What did you do in the garden today?

Well I got one row of strawberries covered in chicken wire. No weeding got done today I remembered the main reason I had to go to TSC was to get DE because it looks like our flock has mites. So I cleaned and dusted t he whole coop, run, and every single chicken tonight.

First we had overbreeding problems and as soon as we solved that they molted and lost the feathers they had left. And then 3/4 of the way through the molt everyone got mites
:barnie
It makes me feel like a horrible chicken owner to see them all half naked for so long. I’m hoping the DE will solve the problem and I won’t have use to anything stronger.
I can relate. You’re not a bad chicken wrangler though, it comes with the territory. :hugs

Good morning gardeners. I really should be outside pulling weeds but I’m not feeling like it at all! I really need to get some housework done. After the drive yesterday I had no motivation so all that I did was clean the kitchen counters and sink and run the dishwasher. That laziness is spilling into today. Anyway, I did get the duck pond drained and refilled and got a better pic of Jasper this morning. Male ducks sound so sweet :loveTwo of my neighbors just told me today that they miss the rooster crowing but they smile when they hear the ducks out there, especially when Fig chimes in, she sounds like she’s laughing all the time. Anyway, I need to go get feeder fish for the gang but here’s Jasper this morning. He has a bluish green sheen in the sun

I made a trip to Home Depot today to get some blocks and came home with another rosemary, another artichoke, a watermelon start and an oleander. The oleander has been transplanted and everything out front or on the side has been watered. I’ll have to transplant the rest when it cools off later because tomorrow is a work day.

but did you remember the BLOCKS?!

Today I filled an entire trash bag with ivy I pulled from a roughly 5x5 foot section of the ground between my house and the neighbors. It. Is. Insane. I get a bit angry every time I see english ivy for sale somewhere...

Also went to home depot to meet and trade plants with someone and ended up buying, oh, I don't know...75+ bulbs/roots 🤦‍♀️ 🤣. I should be banned from stores that sell inexpensive plants. I have very little self control. We did actually get most of them planted though!

Oh, and I went on two walks around the neighborhood at the Little's request. I am exhausted. Can someone come over here and tend the chickens for me? 🤣

I’ve had to rip out roots at one home. A larger area in an established old neighborhood. It was snowdrops I think? Early flowers, white, spread with underground titanium roots. They were pretty every year...until they weren’t every year, so I though “no biggie, I’ll just remove them”. Hahaha. Took forever...so very many roots everywhere. And I was just a youngun’ in my first home, so I had plenty of energy but it nearly whipped me.

toddlers- they also take so much energy! Good luck. I have one remaining young teen at home, which takes its own skill set, but at least teens are relatively self sufficient (sorta, anyway).
