What did you do in the garden today?

Got to shop for a new washing machine today . Old one will not run on first cycle . Only starts at first rinse . Repair clinic video says circuit board . None available . So I guess they no longer make them .
I would think that its just a part on the circuit board that failed and not the circuit board itself. Might still be repairable :idunno
They frequently just need a bit of soldering to fix a wonky connection. Should be guides online for that kind of stuff. Probably need a multimeter to check connections for power and find the one that's failed. Heck, often all these old circuit boards need is a gentle scrub with a soft toothbrush and 97% rubbing alcohol to remove corrosion.

I only know this stuff because I watch video game console repairs sometimes for kicks because I've got a few classic consoles around and I keep them in working condition myself. Not that I've had to do much. They used to build those suckers like freakin' tanks.

New washing machines are generally not worth the money. :hmm They don't even have proper agitators anymore.

Good morning gardeners. Still busy as heck. Yesterday was laundry day. I did manage to freeze another pound of sliced peaches and 12 ounces of green beans. Today I picked the rest of the peaches, yesterday I brought in 6 pounds, this morning just 5 1/2 pounds. I also picked some more SM tomatoes and a few green beans. The bulk of the peaches will go into the fridge for now, however I am thinking of throwing together a peach cobbler today. I need to clear out everything under my kitchen countertops to get ready for the new ones installation tomorrow. DD has volunteered her plumbing expertise in exchange for a surf and turf dinner. Cheaper than hiring a plumber. I would have to beg to differ on the new washing machines @Elyrian1. When I sold my last house I left the old washer and dryer and bought brand spanking new Samsung machines. Since these went into my basement I even got the pedestals to minimize bending over. These machines are awesome. They use less water, my clothes come out cleaner, more energy efficient (and if a tissue sneaks into your washer load it doesn't get chopped into a gazillion pieces, just a little wet ball). The dryer senses when the clothes are dry and stops the drying cycle so they don't fry the fabrics. And they play a tune when they're finished. It takes a lot of the drudge out of doing laundry. So DD has caught the gardening bug and got her garden plot yesterday. The previous gardener moved out of that town so DD inherited what she left behind. It's 4.5 x 10 foot plot and it has scallions, okra, bell peppers, and a tomatillo plant. It also came with 2 velvet leaf plants that I instructed her remove immediately. I gave her some seeds that may survive the fall planting. My garden is still producing so I really can't complain too much about this years harvest. The okra plants are still blooming and producing, the lima beans are finally looking like I may be harvesting more than a mouthful. The kale and rutabagas I just planted are looking much healthier now and the row of late carrots are growing nicely. I'm still harvesting peppers as well. The SM tomatoes are nearly finished, but despite the unusual weather pattern this past summer, I think I got a decent crop from them. My canned goods cabinet is filling up quickly and that makes me happy. Have a great day everyone.

My husband is an electrical engineer and has me convinced he can fix anything with a soldering gun and a wrench. You more than likely have a wiring diagram in your owners manual you can reference. Basically I'd remove the board and look for anything thats burnt or loose. If the entire board is burnt its probably ka-put

Uh oh I've detailed the thread, lol. I should add that dh used to get absolutely covered in paint, caulk, and other various construction materials. Our washer struggled. Frequently I had to run an extra wash cycle to get through the crud. Additionally, we cloth diapers with our other child, but had to stop because the machine just couldn't get the diapers thoroughly clean. We had a really nice all in one, GE. It was super convenient... but only for my clothes, haha!

And yeah if the whole board is smoked, it's done for.

I take it you didn’t have a bleach bucket like we did in the olden days.

We have a new agitator free top loader - I've had a couple front loaders & didn't like the last one. Sometimes the clothes in the middle didn't even get wet. This new top loader works pretty well, even with DH, who is a Millwright (works on turbines, damns, conveyors - the guy that the soap is dirty AFTER he's showered), it gets his stuff pretty clean.

I can't believe the last of my cuke vines are still producing but I found 2 more cukes. The peppers are loaded, the green beans are just meh. I seem to have a lot of vine & leaves, but not tons of flowers. I have a few squash ready to pick too. Fall lettuce is coming up. All is good in the garden, but fall is surely on it's way.

Might get out there & get my cattle panel up in the garden as a trellis if I can finagle the thing on my own.
