What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning gardeners. Wow, I can read posts!! I’m so excited to get back into this thread, I’ve missed you guys!

My cilantro in the seed starter didn’t make it, and I’m down to one broccoli plant but the rest looks pretty good. This weekend will be time to transplant and get the next batch started. I’m going to do sweet peas, cauliflower, and more lettuce. The carrots and garlic are in and covered with bird netting and the artichokes are still going strong.
Have a great day all, it’s time to go water.

Hey all! Happy Veterans day to you vets - I know @Wee Farmer Sarah is one for sure...do we have others?

Love having you back @igorsMistress. ❤️

Nice day out, been cleaning up leaves for most of it.

I'll leave you all with a this :lau:

Blustery day today! The wind/rain should knock a bunch of the oak leaves down.

I went up to water the planters in the green house, and there are sprouts! A few peas, several radishes, gobs of lettuce, and some beets and spinach. Yay!

I sowed everything very thickly so that I could eat the thinnings as baby greens. And to use up seed that will otherwise sit in the cupboard until I throw it out in 5 years.

It is usually less work to work for the money to buy your food at the store than to do the work to grow it yourself. Depending on what you have to buy to grow your food -- land? tools? seeds? plants? fertilizer? water? -- it's cheaper to get it at the store too. This is assuming you donate your time.

What you can't buy at the store is the satisfaction of growing it yourself, the range of varieties, and the knowledge of where your food came from and what was put on it.
