This was our nets just a few weeks ago. The ice stuck to the netting and caved it in. Snapped every single support post like a toothpick. I now have some temporary support posts to hold it up until I can replace all of the netting with new fencing supported by beams. Hoping to start that project in the next few weeks.Starting to stick to the bird netting. I hate March snow.

I couldn't find one big/strong enough to can with last time I looked! Not worth the price anyway for my pot when I have the propane burner outside. Or at least that's what I tell myself to justify the Nesco I just bought.Pick up an electric hot plate. Less then $10 or they used to be.![]()
I would kill for propane! My grandmother had it & I've always wanted it but its not the norm here.I have propane everything here. My kitchen stove is set for propane only thing available here..
That's exactly what I do.... It works beautifully!@TJAnonymous I looked into that too (the deep fryer) - I'd be able to dunk meaties in it too to defeather...
Electric Pressure cooker??? WHY!!! Plug in pots and pans are good only for waffle makers, toasters, and crock pots - and they don't work so well as toasters (though better than a gas flame).@U_Stormcrow there are electric pressure cookers that don't regulate the pressure well enough to can with - from what I've read (& that seems to be the consensus). I don't think it's an issue with a stovetop canner/cooker that you adjust the pressure on.
I have the presto pressure canner for pressure canning in addition to my stove top one.Would you mind sharing what canner you have? I have a glasstop stove & am scared to can on it. I also have an outdoor grill with a burner & could do it there - but an electric one sound so much easier! & more doable in the snow.![]()
