What did you do in the garden today?

I have carrots and radishes sown at my allotment garden recently and onion seeds and sweet peas growing on all of my windows indoors (so far the cats have managed not to knock them down). I have a greenhouse coming for my home garden soon :D. I had a little plastic one at the allotment last year but it got a big beaten in the wind. Glad I found this thread, it looks like there's pretty much a thread for all of my hobbies here :).

Thank you and yes, I'm from England. I've been gardening quite a while but only veg gardening properly for around 2years.

Right about now I'm very grateful DH's company pays for his gas.

I watered the garden thoroughly. My raspberries and blackberries have yet to show signs of life. I'm not sure when exactly I should expect that, if it's going to happen. If they don't come back I'll be taking Stark Bros up on their credit policy.

Garlic are super happy. I think every clove I planted has come up at this point. Every time we hit below freezing I'd see a few more poking up through the mulch a couple of days later. I've been very happy thus far with this second generation. We'll see how well it produces about the end of July.

Through all the freezes and all the frosts, all the way down to 9F.... The spinach and the collards have not looked bad at all. They haven't grown much! But neither did they die. The kale died back pretty heavily but is trying to come back. I'm leaving it for now until I get the low rows in and planted up.

So I've stuck sugar snap peas, bush beans, two tomato varieties, radishes, and more carrots in the ground so far. It's all a giant experiment. We'll see how it goes. So far nothing has sprouted but it's only been two days with overnight freezes.

Oh @WthrLady that is absolutely horrible. Do you have a steam cleaner? (I really hope you do)
OH YES! I was due to clean carpets next week anyway, but dang it. She did it on purpose. She had a walk before I left. And I know when I left and when the roomba goes into that room, 20 minute window. Just argh!

Can you can everything in a water bath canner or pressure canner or is each one used for different things? Never canned before but would like to learn, it looks really complicated/ no idea what to buy.
Anything with high acidity can be water bath canned, like fruits/jams/jellies, salsas, pickles, etc. Things that are not acidic need to be pressure canned, like meats or low acid vegetable that you don't pickle - corn green beans, etc.

I do believe anything you can water bath can you can pressure can tho.

Canning is not hard, but I'm a stickler to the rules as you can kill people with botulism if you do it wrong.
