What did you do in the garden today?

Mint will take over like a weed if you let it. Some of them will string out of the original pot and spread where they touch the ground. Not necessarily a bad thing.

I heard from a few people, which I need to check if it's true or not, they are experimenting with mint in beehives to keep the hive beetles out. If this is true, I wonder if it'd keep certain pests away from the girls too, if you can keep them out of it. If not, at least their poop might smell a bit nicer :)

Maybe dry it and add to their nest boxes. I do this sometimes, a little lavender too from time to time

Wooohooo! Go you! I have 3 leghorn (home hatched so we're hoping for pullets), 2 midnight majesty marans, and an easter egger chick in my bath tub right now. AND 12 easter egger eggs in the incubator. So not supposed to have so many chickens and I feel as free as a naked toddler running from the parents!
I really want some more marans. I only have 2 right now. When I went into the feed store, I was hoping they would have some. No luck...but I walked out with 3 breeds that I'm equally excited to have! :)

Not good news for the kitty, sadly. She has a genetic condition where her immune system attacks her teeth/gums. So she is getting a full mouth extraction this week. And then her blood test came back, and she has kidney disease now too. She is 11, so in my opinion, has many more years to live. Hopefully this surgery helps her fell a little better.
Best of luck to you and the kitty!

I took the Silkie "friend" back to her mama since I have new chicks to befriend the lone chick who was abandoned by her mum. I also had a lone Marans cross that hatched in the incubator today.

I got a new brooder pen from Amazon for just over $20. Set it up in the dining room so it is out of the way and safe from dogs and bunny. DH is bound to notice it but let's hope he doesn't realize the chick count went from 2 to 7. 😂 Luckily they are all currently hiding under the MHP.
