What did you do in the garden today?

I use filtered water.. rain water is great too.. put em in a jar and keep in a bright windowsill.. remove any buds or flowers from suckers, be careful not to damage top of clone.. congratulations you have cloned a tomato plant.. watch for roots to appear in 6-8-10 days and allow roots to get 3 inches long and pot them up or put them in the ground..they will grow true to mother plant.

Curious what you're thinking about making.

I've only ever done beef jerky for meats.
Most red meats, all you need is salt and time. Right humidity conditions, brine and smoke add flavor, basically all you need to preserve meats.
I recomend looking up Brandon Sheard from Farmstead Meatsmith. Great info, even better philosophy.

Any pictures?.. don’t write em off just yet..
Here's my sad looking SM starts... They started out well and then lost vigor during the time they were in the garage. I hoped transplanting them outside would help but I feel like they look worse... Maybe I just need to reseed and start over?

And here's the culprit who is munching on my tomatoes... Looks like I need to spray everything with Neem oil later this evening when the sun fades a little.

And last but not least, here's some examples of the darkened leaves that I was talking about earlier. From what I read online, this could be caused by the cool nights when I kept the plants in the garage to protect them from any frost but it was still below 55 degrees?

I'd restart those for sure. In my experience, my tomatoes that looked that sad took forever to get their feet back under them. And those dark green ones look fine to me, but I'm no expert.

I know this one! The darkening leaves is a phosphorus deficiency! It comes from being chilled and can't take up the phosphorus properly. I had that last year with seedlings.

Put out 45 corn seedlings and planted 90 corn seeds. Set out Brussel sprouts, beets, okra and sump'n sump'n else. Also put hardware coth around garden fence roto tilled a 18" strip around 3 sides on the outside of garden fence and planted it with flowering plant seeds to attract butterflies, bees and hummingbirds as well as deter pests. Built fencing around each tater container with poultry wire to keep out the chickens. Began installing insulators to run "lekrit" wire around top to deter squirrels and ravenous coons.

Thanks for the information! I just planted them outside a few days ago (this past weekend). When I did, I threw a tablespoon of bone meal in the soil with them... So hopefully that will resolve the deficiency...
