What did you do in the garden today?

I sowed broccoli and broccolini a few days ago. Never grown either before, so we'll see what happens. I want to grow more stuff for frittatas.

I'm going to guess we got a good inch or more of rain today. The trees have leaf buds just starting to open. I love looking at the trees this time of year. Every day they look different, as the green gets bigger and bolder.

Well it’s a cool lazy day, I ain’t hit a lick at a snake so far today, well that ain’t true.. I just killed a big yella belly water snake on the porch.. tryin to get to a box of newborn kittens... mama cat was raisin cain, I’m havin a bad day with my legs again was just watchin westerns and heard a commotion so I investigated and couldn’t tell if it was a cottonmouth moccasin or harmless water snake.. but I wasn’t in the mood to get bit either way.. creeks are runnin so the dang varmints are movin.. eyes open, y’all be careful where you step or where you put your hands.. I’ve been copperhead bit many times and it makes ya awful sick..

Really really glad to live far enough north not to have to worry to much about the venomous ones. Some eastern rattlers seen 2hr south of me, and the very very rare copper mouth but not common at all here.

You don’t need a huge space to have fruit trees Boots. There are patio/dwarf options that only get 4 to 6 feet tall. We hqve 1/5 acre and all the fruit trees are dwarves. Now I need two more so I have the 7
We've been keeping a path clear running between the gates on each end of the property to make wood chip delivery or anything else that takes heavy equipment. But...I think I'll have a look at adding a few more tree boxes or regular raised beds in that road closest to the current raised beds. I could have my onion, garlic and shallot beds AND a couple/few fruit trees. I really want a couple pears and cherries.
Protect these from any hint of frost. The other things you have listed will be ok, but tomatoes and peppers are total wimps. Oh, I'm not sure about basil... can someone else chime in here?
Thai basil is about as tough as tomatoes and peppers, regular leaf basil is more tender, the leaves will start turning black and falling off.
SCAM ALERT! Last month I posted pictures of these garden sculptures that I purchased. Well, after nearly 4 weeks, I finally got my items today. They do not remotely look like this.... They look like cheap junk that I wouldn't pay $5 for! 🤬🤬🤬. I have contacted the seller to ask for a full refund. If they refuse, I will file a dispute with my credit card company.
There are a lot of ads I see on various sites (facebook is the worst) that claim to be selling beautiful pieces of garden art but they are ALL scams on legitimate artists work. The real artists never sell their pieces on those pop-up ads. I try to report them but there are just too many out there.
I have never had success to grow them from seeds. luckily I get a pot from supermarket for 1 eur and plant it in my garden. more I cut them more they grow.
That's been my experience as well, I just buy some potted clumps and put them in the garden or in big pots.
It sounded like squirrels fighting or maybe a coon.
Could it have been rabbits fighting? I know the males get pretty wild.
so question about broccoli-never grown it before - do all the plants get worms? Is it just a thing to expect?
Cabbage loopers demolish broccoli and any other cole type vegetables I plant here. I tried for 2 years but I've given up.

The cucumbers have sprouted in the greenhouse but only one pepper has sprouted and that is only one sprout out of about 20 seeds. it's supposed to stay dry today so I need to get out and get busy.

RCW/Chip piles and leaf/tops compost piles.. a week of rain coming so I won’t get anymore delivered til it dries up some.. tree trimmers won’t be working in the rain with lightnin and high winds.. but it’s all free so I can’t complain none.. I got a spot there at the front of my place for 15 loads.. 10 more maybe and I’ll be full up !!

Waiting for the garden to dry up, currently under a tornado watch and another 1/4" of rain to drain out of the gage. Still working on a way to help increase the drainage in the garden. Happy to say that my fruit trees are all doing decently, slow but that is how it goes, or so I have heard, (First year they sleep, 2nd year they leap, and third year they run.
