What did you do in the garden today?

I just bought ALL the pots/trays from my farmer market neighbor (going out of business) - 100's of pots and trays and a compost sifter frame as tall as I am. 3 truckloads loaded and unloaded. Now I will have to sort thru it all and start potting up my seed starts.

Ate my first 2022 strawberry. Bagging the berries seems to be working to keep the earwigs from getting them. Got to order more bags now that we know it’s working.
Watered the garden after the winds yesterday. Can’t wait for the garden to really get going. Tomatoes and peppers are doing well. No I’m ground seed germination yet. Sudden temp drops are going to slow that for another week or so.

I was wondering if you would! I WOULD. LOL

Nice score @CaroleW!

I watered the garden. Got the pathetic tomato starts in. I have a bird on her way out. My GLW is having laying issues, gave her calcium & nutridrench but I'm sure it's too late. & man do I hate chasing down a sick chicken with a net to catch it! All the others are still out there yelling. They get so worked up, you'd think I beat them daily instead of feeding & watering them. 🙄 :smack

I don't know whether to put a sad emoji or the laughing emoji - both apply!

More info please - Do you bag each individual berry/cluster or do you mean potting them in grow bags? (I assume the first -bagging berry/clusters). I'm having trouble with most of my strawberries from bugs too. They almost all go to the chickens.

I bought Canada Crimson Rhubarb, a really red kind. I'm not sure what variety my neighbor has, but it's really red too. I know there are other types that are paler/greener.

I set the two pots I bought on my porch. I don't know if they've been exposed to direct sunlight yet, or not; they were in Flowerland's greenhouse. I went to clear out the corner where they'll go, as it has some grass growing that needs to be dug out.

When I came back to the house, I looked at the rhubarb and saw some aphids! I sprayed the snot out of them. I used water with a few drops of dish soap. I checked a hour later and there were still a few, so I sprayed the snot out of them again.

I'm inside now because I heard a couple rumbles of thunder. Hoping for a storm to cool us off, but that might not happen until Saturday. 60s for next week.
