What did you do in the garden today?

Long time ago. I mentioned the lasting pain I get from ALL blood draws no matter the location to a proper phlebotomist and she nodded and said that some people do have nerves running in the typical, choice spots and for them it DOES hurt more.

Happy for the validation, sad that it's a part of my life. The intense pain contributes to a panic attack and fainting spell almost every time. Additionally I hurt for a week or more after. The worst is the dental fillings. Two weeks after the numbing shot it will still ache deep in the bone.

In short, yes, she hit your nerve.

At least when I need my blood drawn they're super happy to see my pasty pale skin (Can you say Scottish/Irish/Swedish?). My veins stand out blue and are super easy to get. Never had anybody miss on the first try, and I pray it never happens. I might walk my happy butt halfway out the office and hit the tile in the reception area with my face. I promise you I wouldn't let the same tech try a second time.

Watered everything, aka did the rain dance this evening. Might get another gully washer tonight and goodness knows we need it!
THey dread me. I get DARK in the spring/summer/fall, and my veins ROLL. At least it doesn't bother me having it done. I'm just a pin cushion.
Tomatoes tied and pruned and fed for the week.

Yup, somebody turned on the water up there. The lightning has been nonstop. The power is out. The baby woke up and won't go back to sleep... :barnie So I'm sitting in the dark rocking the baby, wishing I was asleep, and listening to the thunder.

I'm also idly wondering how the garden is doing with all this rain. June must be monsoon season, it did this last year too.

I love that we are getting a good amount of rain now because I know in a few weeks the spigot will shut off and rain will become much more scarce.... July and August are always hot and humid but relatively dry.

I never thought of putting a separated lettuce back together in a glass bowl after washing and I have been alive for a very long time. I used this one to wrap thin pieces of roasted pork, mixed with chopped tomato, onions, olive oil and garlic salt.

I have been getting into cheese pizza lately, since I have a lot of home grown tomatoes to make the sauce. I don't kneed the dough after it rises. I just plop it on an oiled pan and press the middle out to form the bread.

I know....and I understand options are limited in dealing with pests most of the time. But animal's desperation to simply LIVE hits me square in the gut. It's a visceral feeling that I simply can't ignore. Didn't used to feel that way....but I do now. Call it a healthy respect for life. I will do whatever I can to avoid killing something. Trap it. Move it. Scare it off with fireworks. Whatever I can. But I *DO* understand sometimes there are no other options. I caught a snake in the duck coop a few days ago. King snake. Not poisonous. But I was concerned that it would end up killing & eating some baby chicks that are living in that coop with their mama. I tried really hard to get it to go elsewhere but it INSISTED on going back to the coop....so I didn't have much choice. Had to kill it. I'll be repentant over that one for days still..... 🥺

did you at least feed your chickens or ducks with that snake?

Off topic - anyone had a blood draw from the top of a hand? They took mine 12 days ago from my bad hand. I told her it was my bad hand and she used it anyway. No bruise. But dang it STILL hurts, like she hit a nerve in there, but more sharp like a bee sting or a bit of metal splinter.
Anyone?
I’ve had them and they’re not my favorite, but no issues afterward.
They often use my hand and no problems . I am difficult to get . Stuck me 5 times one day . Twice for lab and 3 times trying to get a IV in . One miss on my arm got a really big bruise . Third time they use a vein finder and got it on my hand .
Ouch! Whoever sticks me gets three tries, then get someone else. My rule, and I enforce it.
