What did you do in the garden today?

I think someone else recently posted about this happening with their cucs. I can't remember what the answer was. But I'm having the same issue, where the baby cucs start to go bad on the vine. I'm not sure what's happening. There are no bugs. They are getting plenty of water. Might it be a disease of some kind?

yesterday the farmer was in the field behind us re-planting corn in the entire field. I asked him about it, he said that the weather/rain pattern created a thick crust so the corn could not bust through very well, and the ones that did would be energy deficient and would be stunted. This was one of several field they had to re-plant. That’s gotta be expensive!

I felt slow yesterday, but I did manage to plant some summer squash (ripped out the previous starts that weren’t doing much), several melons, leeks (yes, a bit late), pumpkins, and okra. Everything got a layer of straw and watered.

Soaker hoses: is there any way to prevent a soaker hose from releasing water at a certain point along the run? I think I cannot do this, but figured I’d ask. I’m getting a large puddle in one area.

Sounds like blossom end rot? Maybe add some calcium....

Wow, I'd never heard that before. Do you have more info on that? I'm curious now.
This article says it's BS, but tons of others say it's a good idea. :idunno I still think I might try it on a few bulbs, maybe one row & see for myself.

I do it on little starts all the time, in fact they come that way from the nursery & I don't think anyone says that's a bad idea.

We are also harvesting the first strawberries! Yum!

If you want strawberries, I’ve seen where they can be grown in gutters or other relatively small/narrow spaces. I put a bunch into long plastic planters from Walmart. They produce berries pretty well. So these smaller spaces can be elevated. Biggest problem could be winter. We put the long Walmart planters in a cold corner of the garage bc it stays at a higher temp than outdoors.
Someone else here had mentioned that last year, we do not have room to store anything like that. Indoor space is prime here, DH would kill me, lol. :gig Leave the top off the corvette so I can store strawberries in it, please! I like the berries, they are delish, but I feel like they're taking up good room that could be used for veggies.

In my experience that looks to be likely a lack of enough or incomplete pollination. I also noticed leaf miners in there. I would try dish soap spray on the affected leaves.
