What did you do in the garden today?

My summer projects inside this summer are decoupage related. I have a chest I need to stain, then putting on some antique map tissue paper. First I’m painting the legs on these stools white with black seats and adding lips to the top. Not the greatest pic, but my kitchen is grey and white with black and white accessories so should match just fine. I also have some napkins with a small floral print. I might decoupage them onto veggie cans and hang them on a shelf in the kitchen. Haven’t decided for sure.

It's been raining most of the day. Nothing major but a few gusts here and there. We got a break in the rain so I took a stroll down to the garden. It looks like a microburst came down right over my garden. About a third of it is flattened. Potatoes, corn, zucchini... I stopped looking at that point.

Maybe they will stand back up if I give them time to recover.... 😢

Another sunflower sprout eaten :barnie

Would grubs eat sunflowers? They look like been eaten from the bottom.
Squirrel or Rabbit?
I had another inspiration, I just went out and put a tsp of epson salt in a 25oz spray bottle with water and sprayed my tomato plants. They say to do it once every two weeks. I wonder if my tomato plants will love me for it?:love
Sprayed directly on the leaves or at the base?

Living in the south, blueberries have been really finicky for me. Even choosing varieties that are rated for my area like rabbiteyes. I used to be good friends with a guy who was a blueberry expert at the University of Arkansas - Agriculture Division. He told me that (in our area), the key to blueberries was raised beds and mulch. He said that blueberries do NOT like wet feet. And the mulch helps keep the roots cool & moist. I've still struggled even though mine are in a raised bed. After losing 6 of my 7 blueberry bushes, I finally got a soil review of my beds. I would suggest you do the same. It should be either free or low cost. They require several cups of soil though to do the analysis. They will tell you EXACTLY what you need to do to help YOUR blueberry plants thrive. In my case, I had my soil FAR too acidic. IT killed my plants. I stopped adding acidifiers last year. This spring, I got a 2nd analysis. STILL too acidic. Here's a snippet of my report. You can see that my phosphorus is too high. pH is too low. And those issues are causing an imbalance in other essential minerals. Each month I add a little bit of lime to my beds trying to slowly and carefully raise the pH. I also will be planting some acid-tolerant plants, such as fava beans to help balance out the phosphorus. Those won't be planted until late fall to allow the acid to come up some.... If it all works out, I should be able to add new blueberry plants to the beds next year.

ETA - in regards to your low fruit set, do you have more than one variety? Do they flower at the same time? Like most berries, blueberry varieties have early, mid-, and late-season flowering. Your variety may require cross pollination. If it doesn't have it, it may not fruit well or at all. If your varieties don't flower during the same time, you will also get reduced fruit set.
Wow! I love it! I will definitely do that ❤️😃
I have three varieties that are supposed to go well together for bloom time. I remember ones Misty but forget the name of the other two. My plants are rarely flowering at all though.

@igorsMistress I like the idea of mulching the pot...that just might do it if heats the problem.

I applied citric acid with water to bring the ph to 6 yesterday, so I just sprayed the leaf with the Epson salt/water solution. The EC of the wicking bucket run off was 2 or 2,000us/cm

However, I also mixed a TBS of Epson salt with a gallon of water and poured it at the base of my banana pepper plant. They aren't doing so well, so I thought I try something.
