What did you do in the garden today?

Good afternoon all. Planted another 8 foot row of carrots and the former onion bed is planted in turnip seeds. Kale and chard picked along with 3 okra pods. We got about .55 inch of rain last night. There’s a bit more forecasted for overnight tonight. We are still in a severe drought so it will likely take a tropical storm to get things back to normal. My row of white potatoes is dying back so I really need to get to work in there. My tomatoes are starting to turn a lighter shade of green so I may be inundated soon. I’ve been looking for wide mouth canning jars, but have not seen any. There are plenty of the regular jars. I did can dill pickle spears in the regular jars last year but the wide mouth ones are easier to work with.

I would like to make a jar of dilly beans, but only see recipes for large batches. Does anyone have a suggestion on scaling down a recipe youre not familiar with OR does anyone have a recipe that is for just a small number of jars? I imagine I can use the same brine for pickles?
I think @Sueby would be an excellent resource for all things dilly beans.

I did plant surgery today. The zucchini plant that I was originally worried about only had one grub thankfully. But the other pumpkin plant had about 10, so that plant got really butchered lol. I’m hoping they’ll survive.

What I did was I got my dissection kit out and used the scalpel to cut the plant open and then I pulled them out with tweezers and then used water to flush it out in case I missed any. After I flushed the plant I dried it too, then gave them plant bandaids. I felt like a real surgeon lol.

Well felt worse today than I did yesterday...just beyond exhausted! Sleeping at night though, 2 naps yesterday with 2 grandbabies (don't ask how I did that...but no kids were harmed lol!) Then same today but DH and DD were here to help!
Felt like o neglected my garden and babies so went out walla go...surprised Mr. Rabbit! He looked at me like a statue...as if I couldn't tell he wasn't supposed to be there! I had to shoo the dadgum thing off!
Cucumber plants appear to be slowing down...is that a thing? They go hard as they can and then start dieing out?
Height wise they have grown probably 12' high or more all trellised up and wrapped up around deck railing and starting to come back down again...but only see a few on there and they seem yellowy instead of dark green like my others have been.
Tomato plants looking good and ripening...few on one plant have what looks like rain spots on tops and sides, not bottoms so not BER, but they are brownish rather than white. Didn't have phone to take pics.
