What did you do in the garden today?

The one in my picture is one I started from seed! I started with 5 or 6 of them. 2 of them made it to planting. I planted 1 in the raised bed and 1 in the “in ground” garden. The one in the picture is the one in the raised bed. The other one never did much and finally gave up the ghost so to speak.
You did far better than I, my seeds never started so good job!

Thanks for the artichoke info ❤️

We get lots of pod litter! Have you found any good use for those besides compost? I keep trying to find something useful to do with all of them.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could take Joey on a tour of your freezer and he'd understand and become just the best behaved roo around?
The pods from the mesquite tree? You can dry them and grind for use as flour. I haven’t tried them yet, but our trees are young, ten years old or so, and I expect we’ll have more pods out there this year. Last year was the first year the largest of the two bloomed.

Still feel like I'm being hit by the #5 bus throughout the day. But each day there seems to be fewer passengers on it. I'm pretty sure it's a viral sinus infection as I was doing well by day 8 and boom, it hit again.
Heading for feeling about 115 today with the humidity. Chores came early this morning and took an hour. Animals needed sprayed for flies, hay bales needed thrown, and a LOT of water needed changed.
Glanced into the garden and spotted a red tomato. By the time I walked out, I had 12 pounds in my shirt tail.
There was no energy left for hand watering the garden, so I watered the hoophouse and turned on the ground irrigation for the rest of the garden.

I'm hoping my head drains enough to get to the market today. It's been 3.5 weeks!

I was about to plant some seeds for fall crops, but I stopped myself because I didn't know if I should start the seeds yet. My garden is pretty packed right now, and my plan with a fall garden was that all the summer crops would be gone by the time I have to transplant my seedlings. But I'm worried that the summer crops will still be there and I wouldn't have enough space. Should I plant the seeds anyways? I would be planting broccoli and peas for now.

The peas are soaking right now because I hope to plant them, but I'm not sure if I should yet.

Morning all. Supposed to be the first day of another major heat wave. I got the garden watered, got turnips in & squash all trimmed & tied up. Picked a bunch of huge suyos & shredded most & they are draining. I'll freeze them in 1 cup bunches & use them for breads & soups in the winter or for a chicken snack - all part of my new I'm not wasting a thing mentality. :gig Picked a bunch of Dahlias & now my house is all pretty inside, lol. Need to jump in the shower, it's hot out there already!

I got distracted this morning with additional chores related to the animals (cleaning algae sludge out of every water bowl) that I didn't get around to the garden yet. Seeds will have to wait until evening...

Anyone ever collected and sprouted wisteria seeds? My wisteria tree is putting out over a dozen seed pods (that I can reach). I thought about harvesting them and trying to sprout some for the garden area. Happy to send out the extras if anyone wants any? I'm assuming they shouldn't be collected until they are dry in the late fall. Anyone ever done this before?

It's cool-ish today...not 90 yet. For some reason both me and my lo slept hard and didn't wake up till 8. Super unusual hopefully we were just tired not getting sick. I have a root canal today soooo I'm gonna try and chill until then and write up my plans for the garden, locate all my seeds and do dishes 🙃 dental work is terrifying.

I had wisteria about 20 years ago but have never tried growing it from seed. I'd sure love to try it though ❤️
