What did you do in the garden today?

Single use, shmingle use. You can use them until the edges are noticeably bent-up--we did all the time when I was a kid, and they did not seal nearly as badly as the agricultural department and Ball marketing would imply.
Tattler lids have a trick to them--finger-tip-tight, then turn back a quarter turn and load the canner. After they come out of the canner, wait five-eight minutes, and then gently tighten the rings. We get much better seal rates since someone actually read the instructions. They still work better in the boiling water bath canner than they do in the pressure canner, and I prefer to use them on stuff you can re-cook (like syrup, jelly, applesauce), but they do work.
And, of course, you know those glass jars you buy things like spaghetti sauce in? Yeah. Those metal lids will re-seal, with very good rates.

My mother is a cheapskate, and I am her disciple.
I'm almost 100% pressure canning. It's rare I water bath. If I do, it's for jellies for a season worth of fair entries, which require company matching lids for jars. Silly but true, ESPECIALLY since it's all really one company. SO tattler are out for the pressure canner, the fail rate in it is too high for my taste.
I was putting them on correctly, with finger tight and back a quarter turn. I could have sold them during pandemic and funded my retirement.
I haven't seen a glass jar come home with me in ages. So many companies, for the products I use have switched to plastic, sigh, peanut butter, mayo, even mustard.

I'm a bit spoiled--the lab I work for tests peanut butter, and they test three finished glass jars every day. Which they then throw away.

I haven't quite figured out what to do with all the peanut butter, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

I'm... 98% certain they don't. Google is coming up with no results, I've never seen a runner on one of my plants, and The Backyard Berry Book says to propagate from cuttings and/or seed. Are you sure you have gooseberries and not something else?
Guaranteed, it's a raised bed and the runners are all traceable to the my original plant. Looks like branches that dropped down and touched the ground. I'll prune the tar out of it to be sure nothing touches the ground again.

Gotcha. I thought you were referring to true runners, not branches.

INstead of pumpkin, do cushaw or boston marrow squash, that's what is in those cans. The size of a well tended cushaw will stagger your brain! My last one was 3 feet long and 9 inches across at the top and 14 at the bottom, shaped like a schmoo. HUGE amount of fruit in that beastie.
I'll make a note and I'll look them up so I know when to get them started.
I'm more than a week behind, not reading back through due to time constraints. We all had covid. Blegh. Over it now, but it was extremely not fun and I'm still rundown and tired.
Glad you guys are a bit better.
The red onions were picked awhile ago. But, now thoroughly cured in the barn. I snipped off dried tops and dried roots, and any really papery outsides. Brought them inside. Plan to can some red onions in red wine vinegar. We got a decent harvest! I’ll work on the white and yellows tomorrow.
Those are beautiful onions! And so many!

Yeah, I figured I had described it wrong.

Got the first batch of bread & butter pickles done, just 6 pints but that was my entire lot of my cucumbers so far. I've got to pick up more as it seems few people here can them anymore and just about everyone likes them.

Grow light?
That would do it wouldn't it. Now do I cough up my starting shelf or find a new spot for a light? Think I need a new spot. ❤️
Welp I now know why I have minimal cucumbers...mouse! A big one! I didn't find this out on my own nope! My rooster Rosie(named so because of his comb) was being nosy in the garden while I set up my other big pumpkin. Suddenly a squawk and a tussel. Mouse 0 Rosie 1. He redeemed himself today after standing at the backdoor crowing...he just learned and is super proud. No one else is impressed lol
Hope none of the other chickens noticed his well earned prize! He deserved to eat the whole thing!
I just want tomatoes lol!
That's me 😂...I want tomatoes!
