What did you do in the garden today?

For those of you who have peach trees...

Anyone know what this is or how to treat it? It started out a quarter of this size. I tried to remove it but it was hardened. Now it is the size of a walnut and gooey. Almost a mix between jelly and sap.

Is it scab?

Looks like gall

Yes. With success. My neighbor also bought and planted barefoot strawberries in the fall 2 years ago and they have done great!
I want to get strawberries going this fall if possible too.
awesome thanks, I am going to try it this year I think. any advice on when to plant them? now or Sept? our first frost will be early Oct
Our first frost is anywhere from mid-September to mid-October. I think I'll try for early September...? I'm in zone 5b; anyone have a suggestion?

When I google "planting strawberries in Michigan in the fall," I get hits about how to plant them in the spring.

I think the Bordeaux mix is a good idea, but I wouldn't be to quick to use a latex paint. Think about if you had a deep cut on your skin, you'd want it to breathe, right? Rubber solution would seal it! That includes sealing any bad stuff in!
I've found this which might help.
Good luck, whichever way you choose to go!
Hmmm, interesting. OK, then here's my dilemma... I would imagine the fungus is present on the tree and in the area. I sprayed the tree this morning with Bonide Fruit Tree spray. Then I cut away the bad tissue. Treated the wound with neem and then an aspirin paste. I would think any of the 3 could/should kill the fungus...

But starting on Sunday it is going to rain (allegedly, but I've heard this before) for 4 days. Wouldn't that be prime conditions for reinfection? Wet wood, warm temperatures, and exposed wound.

This week has had gains and losses in the garden(lol its only Thursday but oh well)
Lost two of my big pumpkins due to the weather just to cold then too warm and the bugs had a heyday. I have a plan and the time I will get my 1000lb pumpkin (someday)
My cucumbers are back to life producing like I asked them nicely...3 8 inch cucumbers today it's insane! 6 new loofa squash sets. A dozen tomatoes (finally!!) And this weekend I'm debating pulling sweet potatoes though I may wait till the first weekend of September when we will be doing a ton of other stuff too. I'm on my porch it made it to a dry 88 today but it's already almost below 70 at 8pm.

Question to all Gardeners...anyone grow mushrooms here?

Plant them in September...they get a little sun but shouldn't sprout any new growth and will go dormant for fall and winter. I grew my everbearings and pink ladies(commercial nonsense name) all crunchy and brown 6 years ago(in November zone 7b) and they are happy still to this day.

Eta- if you go from seed plant them the week before the first frost that way they get cold winter and it will help them sprout in the spring...I think it's called stratifying...but I'm honestly terrible with remembering things like that. I've had pine berries do really well in zone 6 from seed

I have a growing interest in mushrooms. I grew some from a box and it was really easy. I did find out that there is apparently someone local that grows mushrooms commercially and I'm tempted to see if he will reveal his secrets to me. Lol

Any ideas what might have done this?
My DH swears there are letters carved into this cantaloupe...I think he might be lil paranoid with the things of the world lol.

I bought a shiitake mushroom log about 3 or 4 years ago from Gurneys. It finally produced a single tiny mushroom on it this summer.

I've thought about making my own but I haven't had time to do it.
