What did you do in the garden today?

that reminds me, no real rain for 2days now,time to water before it gets too hot.
I keep getting attacked by the snuggle monster. Every time I go outside, she wants to jump up on my shoulder or back. It's getting annoying and hate to do it but she's going to start getting .,.... placed... back down on the ground, this is getting too much. She needs to learn to stand up for herself with the others and stop hiding behind me. I get it, she's smaller than them but she's a barred rock, I think they are a smaller breed to begin with,she needs to learn to 'deal' with that because when the time comes they DO all get locked up, she won't have much of a choice will she?

I have a silkie roo who is a bit younger than the rest. he spends days in my pepper garden and takes care of the weeds. very good at that task. he decimated wild amaranth only and pecked just a few lower pepper leaves.

I got some, Egyptian Walking Onions??? from someone, because they were supposed to be something special and really hard to get down here, and expensive too !!

Anyways, they are doing well, but I don't see anything special about them really. Nipping off piece of a leaf and eating,it's not really special up there either. So, what's their thing that makes them unique?

I wish we had EWO here. I would plant them in the far corner of my land and forget about them unless I want to harvest some.

Very nice... My carrots never look so nice like that and I can't get green onions to grow to save my life... Do share your secrets...

I never managed to grow onions in containers. try to till a piece of land and plant them there. I think you are not late to do it now. frost will not kill onions. just harvest them on a sunny day.

I might end up doing that too, putting them in a 5 gal bucket or something to winter over and hope they start 'walking' next year.

not sure about EWO but my grandparents never protected onions in winter (zone 7b).

I'm happy with my harvest of green onions, celery and carrots.
I left a few green onions and a bunch of celery to get later.

Can you freeze green onions?

I didnt protect my EWOs in winter and theyre fine, zone 5b. Can you eat the tops, the small bulbs on top? When can I share them? I like the different shapes they make as they fall over. Im really hoping I get sweet potatoes . Its been cool and wet, not super hot as is usual right now.

Can you freeze green onions?

I didnt protect my EWOs in winter and theyre fine, zone 5b. Can you eat the tops, the small bulbs on top? When can I share them? I like the different shapes they make as they fall over. Im really hoping I get sweet potatoes . Its been cool and wet, not super hot as is usual right now.

I've never tried freezing green onions but I feel like I've seen people put them in oil and freeze them with other herb mixes to make those herbal oil cubes.

The other day, I had company, my neice and her children came downfor a few days.

I told the grand neice, the know it all teenager, Laila, grab me that newspaper over there will you. She said, Oh uncle Aaron you are so OLD ! We don't use newspapers anymore, hahaha, get with the times !!, we use our I phones !! and she hands me her phone.

That fly that'd been buzzing around annoying the hell out of me never knew what hit it.

I started these by seed back in March without any grow lights. It has really taken a LONG time to get just this little thing!

But those are the best ones !! They were grown with love, so taste extra special. Hopefully you get plenty more off it !
