Hello all!

Just finished preparing my elevated garden beds. Now I'm wondering when I can finally plant the tomato and pepper seedlings I started last month. It's still too hot (me thinks).
I also want to get some seeds started but, again, it's still too hot.

Our climate is a challenge. Though I believe we are in a similar zone as @Ascholten ? ... just infinitely drier.
I went ahead and put my tomatoes out a couple weeks ago with some shade. We have such a short time for them to grow. They're doing good...even blooming though it's too hot to set fruit. Well...my indeterminate is getting leggy cause the shades a little too heavy where it is...lol. I'm waiting for the temps to drop just a little more before I put my cool season seeds out too.
Alright, the dark deed has finally been (mostly) done. I cut down my peach tree 😔. Definitely buggy inside, very long and flat millipede looking thing. I can't get the stump out of the ground though. I cut both roots that grew outward. Do they also grow down, like a tap root? Its about 6-7 yrs old, if that helps any.
Is it okay to put the coop waste in my veggie garden bed now for spring? Or should I stick with composted waste? I have a decent amount nicely composted, but not enough for four reg sized beds. id hate to have more dirt trucked in. Im too busy to deal with it and hubs doesnt help well. Anyway, I need rocks trucked in for around the deck, but that may wait til next year. I need to get it prepped first. And find the time. I really hate weed fabric. Any other ideas to keep weeds away that I can put the rocks on? I have access to scrap particle board, id that'd work.
Too bad on the peach tree!
I'd go ahead and add the coop waste now. It'll break down and not be so hot by spring.
Cardboard maybe? I use cardboard under rocks but we're so dry here...it works for me but I use it in dry areas so not sure how well it'd work in other places. Particle board sounds good.

Brought in 22 more pounds of blush tomatoes last night.
Rains never came.
Sort the tomatoes this morning and will process the reds tomorrow.
Put butternut squash in the dehydrator this morning.
Started on madarin jelly, but only grabbed one bag of mandarins, needed two. DS will grab me another bag this afternoon and I'll finished that today or tomorrow.

Busy with ranch odds and ends today. 90 but DRY air and windy, so not horrific out.
Have 16 Ton of stone to move, some tomato plants to mulch, and a stock rack to take apart. Stuff and things.
Have a good one.

I want some Fuji Apples to can...any suggestions where I might be able to get a box full!?!
Wanna make a trip up to upstate NY? Lots of apple orchards here! Don’t know why NYC is “The Big Apple”, you have to drive a few hours north to get some! Lol
