What did you do in the garden today?

Fireants also go by pheromones' too. They can cover you and all kind of gang up, like, on a signal, they all at once start stinging / biting. They inject formic acid. Me, it itches burns slightly, then 2 to 3 days later I end up with a pussy pimple looking sore. I usually pop them like a pimple, and put rubbing alcohol on them as a disinfectant. I feel it is better than having it pop on it's own by rubbing on my pant leg or something, not knowing, and it is NOT disinfected when it opens, and potentially getting crummy stuff to start an infection. Overall they just are not fun creatures... kind of like mother in laws.. you are still annoyed days later by the initial visit :p :)

Hey all, hope life is going well for everyone. I'm hanging about my living room with a wrapped twisted knee. We were clearing the garden to start our autumn "experiment" and I found the missing garden spike, and fell oddly... so the house for me this weekend. Oh well it's gonna pour. I have good company Dot my favorite roo is in sick bay(the garage) to get Epsom soaks and ointment for an infected foot. He's a sweet giant and seems to be enjoying time away from the chaos. We did get some pumpkins for bread, muffins and pie! Also I love the idea of putting two fire ant nests in a battle to the death! Evil bugs I swell up bad when they bite me.

Have yall ever heard of the "amish method of preserving tomato seeds"?
I'm really Wondering if it works!
Or if i would end up with a mess underneath my house!
Just skip ahead to 5:30 minutes for method.

Anyone have any thoughts for how to over-winter these seeds (per their method) in a warm climate like ours? We don't get those cold winter temps. Our coldest month (DEC) averages high of 67 and low of 46. Could that be cool enough for this process?

sorry to hear your roo bud's hurt there., Hopefully the epsom salts fix his issues and he's back to the chaos in no time ! While he may enjoy a day or two of peace he will be missing his ladies and worrying about them in no time.

Novo, 67 is a bit warm, not sure that'd work well. I know in the brewing world, thats the difference between a nice slow lager and it blowing all up the sides of your storage shed. oo. umm cough cough. rumble cough.,. If you are looking to preserve, or postpone or prolong something, temperature is everything. The best way to know for sure how it works for you is to give it a try, do a small batch tho, a tiny sample so you don't lose a bunch if it does not work out well.

Did a little waterin, set up the timers to water @ night, a little pickin, okra, long beans and some luffas. Cut some alfalfa for the goat's dessert this evening.
Had ta edit....Wife's been tryin to grow a taro plant. Been dug up by critters, starved for water and didn't make it. She bought another root @ the Asian market today. We planted that. To define we.... I dug the hole, She lovingly placed the bulb in the hole and covered it up. I, then carried about 5 g. rainwater to moisturize it and covered with mulch.
That's all Folks!
