What did you do in the garden today?

I use hardware cloth, cleaned out two nest boxes left them bare.
They only have 2 now probably should put the savings back in. :caf:he
Do you have any still laying?
I permanently blocked one off now, they have 2 left. I have 2 still laying but I might permanently block off another. The nest sleeper looked a little puffed up yesterday but she ate mealworms so it could just be that shes a mess from when DH chases her out of the nest she ends up on the floor under the roosts getting pooped on. :he

Don’t know why they have to wait till I’m incapacitated to pull this crap. 🙄

Hello gardeners. I’m sick, face is pouring like a faucet and a cough with sore throat. Tummy is a wobbler too, so I’m going to urgent care at 0500 tomorrow. If I didn’t have an appointment I’d have to wait in my car until they had time for me, no thanks. The teenager picked lemons today and a neighbor is coming to get some. Igor will take a bunch to work which will help get rid of them. He picked about 500 lemons off that tree I kid you not.
Hope it passes fast and you're back to good soon.

@igorsMistress, I hope you're feeling better by the time you read this!

I have a couple of seed orders I want to place. I'm going to try spaghetti squash next summer. DH doesn't care for it, but I want to give it a go again.

I know I'll be battling squash vine borer and squash bugs, but right now, it all seems doable. :gig

Thanks , and good luck to you on the s cond surgery, that’s coming up this week right?
Yes, Friday. Not looking forward to it, can't lie. Lol.

I loved growing spag squash. This year was my first time. I found them easy & prolific. I did keep them covered under netting for quite a while though which meant hand pollinating. DH had the same issue with spaghetti squash until I told him you can't think of it as spaghetti, that it is not, you have to think of it as a vegetable! Ever since then he likes it. Boys. 🙄🤣

I was reading about ways to protect them from Squash Vine Borers. The advice was to cover them with a floating row cover as soon as they're planted. Then when they have 4-6 leaves, uncover them, and wrap the stems with aluminum foil, and have the foil extend about 1/4" into the soil. This means you need to replace the foil as the plant grows so the vine won't be girdled. I'm going to try this, and I'm sure I'll report about it.
