Mine are super simple.Totally NOT fancy, but still they can be good. Yes, recipes vary, so you may enjoy one combo over another. I’m pretty sure last concession shift I worked a couple months ago, the lead made it with canned chicken (a tall/large can), a box of stuffing and some chicken broth - can’t remember cream of chicken soup though for that place, but she whipped it up pronto bc they were running out before half-time. And I ALWAYS get a buffalo shredded chicken sandwich at my fav stand at our county fair at least 1x during fair week.
So are the churches as they try to do it as cheaply as possible. They cook theirs for a while in the giant electric roasters in water salt and pepper and serve on soft white rolls.
I don't think chicken tastes as chickeny as it did when I was a kid. I cook 4 large breast halves in the pressure cooker with a 12/15 ounce can of chicken broth. Natural release, and then shred the chicken, save the broth. Then you mix it all up and add salt to taste and a LOT of pepper.
You can of course cook it in a dutch oven or in a crockpot.
