What did you do in the garden today?

Supposed to get some wicked storms this afternoon. Maybe even a tornado or two. I did run down to the garden to do a little bit of cleanup from the freeze. It killed off just about everything. I'm hoping my rosemary comes back. All the leaves turned brown and fell off. So bummed! 🤞🙏🤞🙏

Doing some cleaning today. Taking down Xmas decorations. Mopping floors, etc.
In line for us, freezing rain, snow flurries, rain, then thunderstorms and hail, rain, and freezing rain and back to snow. LOL. Toss in some locusts and a plague and we're downright Biblical.

I love the weight tip and think I'll try it...just hope hubby doesn't lose a gasket 😂

I have to say I question how much those machines actually help. Ours takes 2 hours to wash one load. I set everything to the extra rinse, extra spin, heavy soil, etc. I add heavy rope balls as well to help agitate the dirt out better. And then with some clothes I end up running them through twice if they fail the snif test when I open the washer.

Then the cleaning cycle you have to run every so often just to clean the machine takes 4 hours to run. An empty machine running nonstop for 4 hours. 🙄

Kind of appalling eh. Not a GE though...wonder what those are like since mine has good reviews 🤣
Mine is a super high efficiency HG by LG and on a well. I make my own laundry soap. It weighs the load and uses the appropriate amount of water. I can change the temp, and cycle though if I want. I clean it once a month.

cleaning the machine is a load of crap. wasting electricity, hot water, and time. and those stupid ass cleaning soap balls they want you to make a mortgage payment on!
it's steel and plastic. not like you slaughtered livestock in there ffs. Every time you use bleach, you sterilize it. slooshing and spinning around in an empty machine is rediculous imo. you want clean, throw a few white towels into a hot cycle with half a cup of bleach. there, some laundry done and machine cleaned, though it didn't need cleaning anyways. or do your bedding with hot water. your sheets will do MUCH better with hot water if you really want them clean. There's a LOT of stuff to make sheets dirty, without you having to do the dirty either, just the natural oils from your body / hair etc will do it.

seriously though if you are getting ANY kind of buildup in your machine of slime, grease, soap scum etc, something is going very wrong.

laundry soap is over rated, you can crush some aromatics in the water to make it smell pretty. pine oil, lavendar, whatever. a bit of sodium sulphate works, or TCP, get some phosphates in there and it'll be cleaner than you ever remember it being, unless you are an old fart like me who remembers back in the 70's when they still put phosphates in the detergent to actually CLEAN the clothes !!

you can buy the raw chemicals for probably 15 percent the price of your fancy schmancy detergents and they will do just as well, just without all the chemical dyes and stuff in them.

aaron - who's feeling extra curmudgeonly today because the friggin percocets are no longer working :( and the damned doctor is on vacation STILL

I cut the green stems of my ginger to mulch the top of my 15 gallon fabric bag. I cut it near the root and was thinking it would grow back, but the place where I cut seem to be turning mushy, so I harvested my pot of ginger. I think I have enough to last me a year. A shallow 16 inch pot produces a lot of ginger. I have another ginger pot like the one in the picture. I will treat it like an ornamental plant, since I don't need anymore for cooking.
