What did you do in the garden today?

OK... I said I was done ordering stuff. Then this came... 😂

Has anyone ever ordered from them before? They have a couple of herbs I want to try (sesame, flax, etc...). I also saw these starter pots. Might try them too.

They had 8 packs of those pots a few years ago at dollar tree, back when everything was actually $1. I liked them, but they warped a bit when wet. I am stubbornly stuck on my black seed starting trays that I reuse every year now

I bought a package of these cheap plastic lunch boxes from Walmart. They are perfect for starting seeds with rock wool cubes.

I was going to throw away a packet of Beef Steak tomato seeds that didn't sprout in my first attempt, but I decided to pour it into a petri dish instead to see if any sprout and I see a few sprouting. I will transfer them into rock wool cubes when I see the white tail come out of the seed. All I need is one or two to survive and then I can clone the plants.

I only use the petri dish if they don't sprout in a rock wool cube on the first attempt.

I have some soil-less peat plugs that I'm going to use with a clear egg carton for some seeds but there's always some seeds (pumpkin, loofah, etc) that I like starting in peat pots instead of the plugs. I have some peat pots still but I still might give these a try.

I also save the small plastic pots from Bonnie or whatever when I buy live plants so I have various sizes to work with...

FWIW, I start melons from seed in hills directly in the the garden. If you start seeds, just be aware melons can be temperamental with transplanting, so only start a few weeks before transplant and/or use a larger container for the seeds you start.
My season is too short to direct seed melons. I either have to buy starts or grow them.

One year I bought melon starts and planted them the first of June. Their roots were very intertwined, and I had to get a bit rough with them to get the plants apart. They sat there in the ground until about July 4th, not dying, but not growing. Then they decided they were ok, and started to grow. But it was too little, too late. They didn't bloom until the end of August, and the biggest melon was the size of a tennis ball, hard and green.

Start them in a bigger pot, and do not disturb the roots (as much as possible) when you transplant them. They're picky that way.

I have ordered from them! I really liked their seeds and other things. They had a cabbage mix I really liked. Saved me from buying 6 different seed packs.
