What did you do in the garden today?

OH no, Lehmans is near my hometown, they've been offering sleeves of canning lids since the 80s.
These Superb lids are new. I was just reading on the Superb website...2021. Sugarcreek, OH isn't very far from Kidron...which you already know if you're from the area. I've been to the Lehman's store a couple of times. It's very interesting.

Love the Lehman's store. My parents actually went to Amish Country today, Sugarcreek/Millersburg area. My mom always buys their lids, in bulk. Don't know what she paid but she always gets a good deal

Well today was productive. I ended up with 15 pints of grape jelly, 2 quarts of grape juice, 3 pints of carrots, and a pint of blanched green beans for the freezer. Not a ton but good enough for one day.

I still have probably 40 lbs of grapes out there at least. I want more juice and DH wants some wine.

Speaking of my green beans. They were pretty much kaput so I trimmed them back over a week ago. Today I noticed that they are regenerating as a result. Interesting to see how much they produce on the 2nd go-round. Same thing is happening, I think, with my cauliflower. I harvested the head over a month ago but didn't remove the plant because it was still producing small leaves and our bunny loves them to eat. Today it appears like the plant has created the potential to produce 4 new heads! The leaves are curling in to cover them. I'm going to let it go and see what happens.

100% seal rate- new lids- loud seals! Lol
They are not subtle.

THe superb ones are new and I just ordered some, but the plain, unmarked gold ones at Lehmans have been around forever.

My grandparents always cut cabbages off the stem and left it. Later on it was covered with baby cabbages. Did you feed the bean trimmings to the chickens? Mine love bean leaves!

Do the

Do the seedlings break through the tissue?

I like this idea because it prevents planting seeds too deep,. I am using a dome, so there will be less moisture loss. I am going to test it out....:frow

they do break through the tissue. I use kitchen towel as it is, without separating layers. 1 piece under the seeds and another over. then some dirt. I water well before putting soil and later I just spray them every day.
