What did you do in the garden today?

Afternoon all. It’s disgusting out, 108 but the real feel is at least 115. The heat has managed to kill two of my girls. One was in the coop this morning and the other was struggling yesterday. I brought her inside but she passed this afternoon. The whole crew is struggling with it, I feel so bad.
Next time you find a chicken with heat problems, bring them into the shade, give them some diluted apple cider vinegar to drink ( a syringe without a needle is good for that, but be careful not to get anything into their windpipe!) and cool their legs by either cool wet mud or drizzling some cold water repeatedly over them, attention, not too fast cooling down, that can also kill them!

Oh man, sorry to hear that, that stinks. ☹️
Simon....? is that you?? :lau
This cracked me up. :lau

Morning. Looks like just a little more rain on the way, we got 3 inches yesterday & last night. 😳

I blanched a ton of beans in the microwave yesterday! It was definitely easier, but I think I might have underdone them a little. I probably have enough for winter, I might think about trying to do some dilly beans now if the back can handle it.

Pretty much did that, didn’t work. Plus they have a pool that I put ice in a few times a day to keep cool.

Finally got some of the garlic braided. Saved a few of the best ones to replant & actually lost like 3 as they were mushy. Not sure if it was my drying process, the humidity or the garlic. I pulled it a little early because of all the rain.

Just 2 bucket gardens on the deck. Not much work getting done this week. My nephew is up in the old cabin next door. Grandson is living in the area with his little ones. So we are making memories. I have a lot of good memories since 1965 at this lake.
Sounds like a great way to spend the summer, enjoy!
