G’morning all. I’m watching the rain fall from the patio today. That’s it. Big shout out to Mother Nature, we’ve been blessed with a fair amount of rain so far this year and I rarely need to water.
I bought a package of frozen beer battered fish from Walmart the other day and I baked it in my Breville oven for lunch. It really impressed me, and it brought back memories of the fish and chips fast food restaurant crave when it first came out. I haven't had these in ages, I am glad I bought it.
I am going to do a beer batter fry with my White Nile Tilapias this way when I get around to it. They keep multiplying, and some of them are very large like 5lbs or more.
Funny I bought fresh Rock fish big package at Costco.
Did not smell fishy nor taste it.
I am planting bush peas and beans, lettuce, kale, mustard greens.
Also potato, tomato and tomatilo, swiss chard.
And all my herbs.
Outside here it is cloudy, it rained last night, but no rain today. We have 3 days of rain in the forecast coming up again, so today is clean coops, manure in the fresh compost part & rototill the old compost part that I plan to garden with soon. Still in the prepping the garden stage here, as our zone recommends planting after April 15th & it has been so rainy, basically every day off, so finally today is the day to till!
I found a few rogue Tulips coming up in crazy spots, from when I moved soil around with a Bobcat awhile back.
I will dig them up & relocate them to the Tulip & Daffodil garden before I cut grass & lose where they were again.
Well...update. The zero turn is a great mower but I also have a yard cart I use a lot. The mower needs an oil change NOW. Yup, always more to do than what hours are available...the "To Do" list just grew today. Need oil & a filter on Easter Sunday. Well, at least we will have a good dinner later, ham, turnip greens with some ACV, bakes beans, potato salad & bread pudding.
I'm happy I'm getting glimpses of sunshine with the clouds.
My sweetheart & the mower & yard cart. I tell ya, that yard cart is a blessing, when it's too muddy for a heavy pickup truck.
This is where I want to till. New compost & Old compost areas.
New
Old, semi old & some new
In back of the large barn will eventually be asparagus, but right now I need to still build this up some more, due to the rain flooding. It is better than it was, just slow progress.
The moat has shrunk a great deal, barely any left on my property. Still flooded in the cornfields.
Mint is coming in around the coops.
This was my experimental shade wildflower garden in back of the garage. We didn't know those huge evergreens would get that big & I don't want to be mowing here. The flowers were amazing all last summer & despite being under water most of last month, they're sprouting back. I need to do a bit of weeding of that nasty Bermuda grass you see, brown dead stuff right now. It doesn't look like much, but most of what is green & growing in this pic will eventually be blooming. I'm going to extend this all around the garage. The bees & butterflies will be happy.
