What did you do in the garden today?

I was outside putting some extra calcium on the peppers when I heard a very very loud humming noise.
I was thinking that's a whole lot of bees, and it sounded like my honey bees. I was thinking maybe a swarm... but no.
Hundreds of honey bees on my sweet corn! I was like what the heck! I've never seen any bees on the sweet corn. They are very hard to take pictures of because they are always moving.

Just got outside for some chores & I hear thunder. We do have rain coming, supposedly noon then all day into tomorrow. I'll believe it when I see it. It's been very dry here the last 4 weeks & predicted rain has missed us every time. The blueberries are about finished, then the raspberries & blackberries will be next. I have a few varieties of blueberries & I do notice the difference. Lots of little squash & squash flowers & many green tomatoes are on the vines, looking forward to them all getting ripe. 🍅

The lot next door has been growing wild for decades. The Mimosa trees have PITA seed pods, but I have to admit, their fragrant flowers are sweet & I see Hummingbirds often buzzing about them. I have loved their fragrance since childhood, they always reminded me of pink wishes, like Dandelion seed heads.

I will be cussing come Fall, picking up a zillion seed pods, though. 😆

I love mimosas even though they are invasive. I've been trying to get some to grow on our property. We finally have some popping up although not really where I wanted them. 🙄 Oh well, I'll still take what I can get...

Got up at 6:30 am to do morning chores and it was still 106 degrees with the heat index. This was right after we got out of church...

Storm just came through and now it's 71 degrees outside! ❤️❤️❤️

OK, folks with vacuum sealers... I have a Food Saver 4440. I picked up a bunch of pork loins that were on sale for under $3/each. Decided to put them in marinade and freeze them. I've never used my Food Saver with anything wet.... And the experience was frustrating. 🤬 I couldn't get the bag to seal no matter what I did. Even on the moist setting, it keeps sucking the marinade into the machine, making a colossal mess, and not sealing. I was so frustrated and angry that I eventually just used an impulse sealer and threw them in a mylar bag... 🤬🤬

I discovered that the Food Saver doesn’t like moisture @TJAnonymous. You could put the marinaded meat in a regular plastic, non ziploc bag then put it into a Food Saver bag and vacuum seal that. I’m so glad I watered all of the gardens yesterday. The “promised” rain was only brief sprinkles. Nothing that made it into the rain gauge. My butternut squash plants are finally looking really good and the first watermelon plant is growing now. I did a walk around all the gardens today. It wasn’t too hot, but so so humid. The green beans are blooming very well. So that makes me happy. The grapevine that has grape clusters on it looks great and the grapes are getting bigger. I’m hopeful gor a decent harvest this year.

Yeah, I've got an error on it now that says tray full even when it's not. I've removed it, cleaned it, and put it back in and it still won't turn off the error light.

.. @TJAnonymous the trick is MASSIVE bags so the liquid doesn't get to the sealing well.
I usually use either my vacuum container, or I just push out air and don't vacuum when I marinate, then seal.
========
two hours to concrete stain just the trim on the lower deck.
Heading out shortly to roll the rest. Dumb projects that need done, at certain temperatures, that suck up your WHOLE day.
