What did you do in the garden today?

Rest is best if you’re still feeling blah. Whatever needs doing will still need doing when you get around to it. My dad was always a stickler about no weeds in the yard and he told me a few times I had a few out there. So that’s what I told him, they’ll still be there when I get around to it Pops.
That's right...they ain't goin anywhere! I used to tell Dad, it's OK, they'll wait for me. 😆

I'm allergic to bleach, though I don't have as severe and immediate reaction as you do to ammonia. I just wind up with chemical bronchitis.

I clean mainly with white vinegar and baking soda, not always together.
I got the strong white vinegar for cleaning or killing weeds in the gravel drive. DH was about to use it for pickling cucumbers last night. 😆 🤣 😂
Be Careful where ya store stuff.

No rain so far. A couple of wildflower pictures. There are more pics on that card but I can not seem to import them. Fireweed and Black-eyed Susan.

And if they’re not, then it didn’t matter that you didn’t get to it right away. 😁

One more hot day today.

Peas planted and well watered. I’m a little late getting them in, but here’s hoping they do ok and produce some peas. Still need to add some fencing for support.

Not sure what kind of butterfly, but very active now.

Silly 6 month old EE, she’s laying under boards that help protect the BJG in the brooder and pen below this. Nice distinct blue eggs laid!

I picked the very last zucchini. The squash plants were so awesome this year. I did try to spray soapy water on squash bugs to save them, but those bugs got too far along by the time I tried it. The base stems were all mush. So bye bye for the year, I took the last 2 plants out. 😔

While picking tomatoes there was a loud buzzing visitor. Huge Hornet. I just watched it excavate a muddy hole. It was not a cicada eaters, but was quite large like one.

As it was getting dark I finished up outside, we went in, showered & ate late dinner. 10pmish we heard the water pump coming on, & Rick asked if I was doing laundry. I wasn't, for once lol. So he went to listen at the other end of the house, the spare bathroom. He heard a leak. This house has been experiencing leaks a lot, because they built it as cheaply as possible. So at 10pm I go outside to fill some water jugs, before we shut the electric off to the water pump. I saw 3 large insects buzzing around the motion light. It was 3 of those huge hornets. I got a little nervous & so I Googled them.

They are European Hornets. Not really aggressive thank goodness. They are just more active at night...go figure, learn something every day.

The sheer size of them makes a person cautious though...I was filling jugs fast. Can't imagine getting stung by something that big!

Rick fixed the leaks after work the next day & I have not seen the Hornets.

My pics don't do them justice. Here's a pic on the web, on a hand...now you get the idea how big they are. I wish they ate squash bugs.
