What did you do in the garden today?

Soooooo beautiful!

And what are the purple beans... And the smaller reddish brown ones? All on the left.
The purple ones are from a bush bean "Jade" , the other ones are horticultural beans. I think they look brown because some pods got waterlogged, and started discoloring the beans inside. I located the bean patch in the wrong bed this year, so not enough sun to dry the pods out correctly. The dark red kidney beans turned out just to be red.

I'm confused, I keep getting yes & no answers on this - maybe someone here can help...

Can Cucurbita pepo (spaghetti squash) cross pollinate with Cucurbita moschata (tromboncino squash)? Can't figure out it I should save seeds or not!

Been away for a few days, going away again in a few more! Possible frost in a couple days, will need to pull lots of stuff in the next couple days.

Will try & catch up a bit tmrw. :)
No is the short answer.

I leave mine on the tree. It takes a long time for them to turn yellow. I only pick them when I need them or when they turn yellow. They turn yellow after I pick them.
You are fortunate to live in a frostfreeze free place. Our other person loves in Arkansas, so they will have to pick them before the weather turns.

Thank you! And I know exactly how you feel about garlic. Every previous year I’ve planted garlic it sprouts and then rots in the ground come spring. This year I got two nickel-sized bulbs by planting them in the spring instead of the fall, but that’s the best I’ve ever done. I love garlic and would love to grow it myself, so I’m really hoping moving it indoors helps.
Garlic needs to have cold when planted to do well and make bulbs in the spring. What kind of soil do you have? You will get them to sprout inside, but they will most likely not bulb up. What zone do you live in? Here in 8b, I plant after nights are reliably in the 40's. Coming up around the end of this month.
Also, make sure to buy garlic for planting. The ones in grocery stores might be treated with a sprouting inhibitor.

No! typically you can save seeds if the only other squash nearby is a different species

I have a greenstalk with alpine strawberries. I am going to seed these in the empty pockets there... I'm not really worried about the taste. While I do eat alpine strawberries here and there, I mostly use them to feed the bunny. I keep my good strawberries (Mara De Bois, Allstar, Honeoye, and Ozark) for people eating... 😊Speaking of, I actually need to dig up a bunch of strawberries and transplant them to a different location... All my varieties have gotten mixed together. 🙄😂
Mine have escaped the greenstalk and are growing everywhere. It's the year to replant strawberries.
