going to pick the second round of cauliflower and tiny broccoli. the first round got eaten by rats.

my back hurts so nothing big today. luckily a friend is coming and will unload feed bags I still have in my car.

33 and snowing and a high of 42. Big change from 81 Friday. Slowly getting ready to start seeds indoors.

Rainy and storms here, but now they have pretty much moved out. Last year Ohio has a ridiculous number of tornadoes.. I don’t think this system produced any over the weekend. Hope those tornado numbers are down this year.

Pretty busy last several days, but hopefully can try round three of planting pepper seeds today . Maybe I’ll have a look around to see where I might want to try planting peas.

I’m seeing tiny pink buds on one apricot and one plum tree…that will be a first for either tree - they are just getting old enough to produce. Everything looks pretty good out there. Of course, we will still freeze at night now and again for another 6 weeks, so I hope that it doesn’t zap any potential fruit.

Surprise, surprise! Checked on my hot peppers started Mar 11. Serranos and Mayan Red Habaneros have broken the surface, light turned on, 3 more hotter varieties to go.

We got some good hard rain overnight. That has washed the dust out of the air.

And the rain paused long enough to go for morning walksie with Freya. Noon time frisbee game might be on hold, though.

The kids did a really good job on the front yard yesterday. DD held the ladder so I could finish up with pruning the fruit trees. I put down ashes for the trees. I’ll need to pick up some mulch next weekend to freshen the old stuff. Yesterday I checked the bed where the potatoes are going in and it’s still pretty much frozen. I put the litter from the old hens coop last Autumn in that bed but it still needs some top soil to balance it out. Rain today through tomorrow evening so no more yard work for now. I’ll start seeds indoors this week. My best wishes to all our fellow gardeners in the path of these storms.

I went out to get the eggs and fed the chickens and dog. I checked to make sure the fencing was still on the potato bed and so for today I will be starting seeds indoors. With the winds gusts at 50 - 65 MPH I am good with staying inside.
