What did you do in the garden today?

Well... We got these giant new asparagus beds in place. I'll put in compost and soil tomorrow. But now I've realized I have another problem.

These beds back up to my flower beds close to my house (as opposed to being close to my garden area). These asparagus beds are 4' x 8' and there's 2 of them. This is prime chicken area where they hunt for bugs. Plus, sometimes my goats have been allowed access to the area so they can browse the weeds and scrub on the back side of the pond. In order to combat the potential dual threat (chickens & goats) to my asparagus, I am going to put some fencing around the beds to keep them out.

Now here's the problem.... As big as these beds are and the fact that I'll only have access to 3 sides, I'm not sure how I'm going to access the asparagus in the back or in the middle.... 😂🙄. I won't be able to reach back there. *sigh*

🤔🤔🤔 I'll come up with a solution tomorrow. I'm tapped out for today.

My middle son works at a Motel/Resort on the lake 15 plus minutes from our house as a housekeeper.
Yesterday he says, that the resort had hired quite a few new people in the last week. He said they always hire some weird people. (Mostly substance abusers to be honest). But he said a new woman he was working with had a jewel on her head.
I said, well maybe she's a Hindu or something.
He said, well it fell off when we were cleaning and she said, dang it I wanted to be an Indian today. 😳
...I wanted to be an Indian today... I literally laughed for like 10 minutes for real. :lau

Today, we got a rare warm March day. While transplanting sugar snap pea seedlings, I heard a loud humming overhead. I looked up and realized that a giant swarm of bees were swirling and twirling thirty feet up. The swarm was moving into a new home and directly came zooming in and made their home in some old dead-out bee boxes that were left over from last season. Tomorrow, I will go and straighten them out into a single deep hive body and put a feeder of syrup on it, as several days of rain are forecast. Talk about having a springtime experience.

I love free bees!

I was reading a little article today about covered bridges. I grew up around very old covered bridges in the upper Midwest and they give me a sense of home and nostalgia. Did you know that many covered bridges have last 100-200 years??? When I read that, I snorted... Pretty sure nothing modern....bridges included...even last 50 years or heck...10 years....these days.

How far we've fallen. I hate this disposable society. 🙁
Reduction in a commitment to quality and customer service have fallen drastically over the years. Although I must say that I recently was pleasantly surprised by two companies that actually came through, without a fight, to correct a problem for me. One was Gurney’s regarding a failed plant and the other was RunChicken about a glitch in their chicken door.

I'm positive that I forgot to tell everyone about my neighbor. She has an orange tree and she picked a big bag of them and brought them to me. I should have had some paper towels when I ate the first 2 because they're that juicy and so sweet.
Man, that reminds me of a place we lived when I was a kid. We had a tree in one of our backyards that gave us oranges like that. Enjoy!
