No, I can probably do that with no problem... I just know the minute I do, the laggards will suddenly take off and go crazy. Is it too late for you to direct seed more cantaloupe?

I did the same thing with lettuce seeds and can't tell if the ones that sprouted are the romaine I gave up on or the Manoa lettuce seeds I tissue planted on top of it.You bet! I planted Sugar Baby watermelons and STILL don't know if they came up or not. In my frustration, I fear that I've done something unforgivable... I planted some cantaloupes in their place! At least THEY have come up now. Or.... now, maybe it's the watermelons???
That would be DW's department, "I don't see anything starting". I think to myself, you just planted it 5 minutes ago!Yes, I do this with grafting trees. I check often for new growth.
No. I made them out of plywood. I think that even if they were vented, my coop stays pretty warm so I doubt it would change anything. My two that go broody are breeds that are known to be. Especially the marans.Do your nesting boxes in the roll away have vented bottoms?
That's me right now with the strawberry popcorn and my moon and stars watermelon.Anyone else suffer that dark period between planting and sprouting where you start to question whether anything will actually sprout and grow?
I always thought my dark times were when I had/had not watermelonThat's me right now with the strawberry popcorn and my moon and stars watermelon.
I finally have a few tiny sprouts that bugs are trying to take out. I have to put a lot of DE around tender sprouts. Between the slugs, snails, earwigs and isopods... I'm fighting all through the season.
