What did you do in the garden today?

In USA the Red mulberry is native. However someone brought over Chinese white mulberry, for silk worms, and they are invasive.
The 2 have been hybridizing and there's few pure native red mulberry

My neighbor has a gigantic red mulmerry tree, which grows over to me, the mulberries taste ok, but my white mulberries are so sweet and delicious! In Persia, they sometimes use the dried ones as “sugar cubes” substitute

Well, the things I'm learning about bagging fruit...

1. Don't waste your time trying to bag tiny peaches because most of them will drop anyway. Wait until they are golf ball size at least before choosing what to bag and thin around it. (Note, this lesson learned is still subject to further tweaking...)

2. Contrary to what YouTubers tell you, nylon pantyhose are useless for bagging fruit. Bugs simply eat through them.

I bit the bullet and bought some Clemson peach bags. Put a couple on tonight but it's about to storm so the rest will have to wait until tomorrow. I've heard good and bad things about using them. I'm sure I will learn from my own experience trying them....

Wondering how many peaches I'm going to lose yet from the notorious June drop...

I'm probably going to start bagging grapes soon too.... I'll do those with brown lunch bags and a stapler.

My peach tree ( 3. season it has born fruit) is so tall ( well, I am no giant ) I can forget about bagging the tiny peaches, it also has so many, it would cost a fortune to bag them all…

I mean my chickens go gang busters for grubs (encapsuled gems) and mini milipedes that grow here up to 12" (not to be confused with centipedes) carried by ants!

They chase after them, and eat the ants as well. My chickens are helping me garden... It is dinner and exercise

The rain was absolute downpour this morning let dogs out at 7.
Went back to bed woke at 8 brought dogs in dried Mocha Standard Poodle.

Well today we continued our planned assembly of a pvc framework around our blueberries so we can net them against the birds more effectively than in years past. After several years of getting almost nothing because of the birds (little takers get all the birdseed they want PLUS they dip into the chicken feed/treats from time to time) we started to cover them and as if by magic we began harvesting 20 to 25 lbs. a year. I refuse to give the berries up to the birds, they get plenty from us already. I think this frame will end up being the size of a small house when done.

I watered my tomatoe plants this and one pepper plant. And that’s all I have, I use to grow a big garden, but I’m not able to anymore.
I put tomato and pepper plants next to the house In totes, they do really good.

Got the box I wanted to move into the sunny section today. Not a moment too soon either; I discovered one of the cucumber starts had roots creeping out into the rest of the tray, so those got planted, the singular melon start got planted, and so did the singular squash start. And the onions, and the dill, and part of a garlic bulb in the fridge which had some of the cloves sprouting and others going bad so hopefully the planted cloves will do well or at least prevent bugs on the squash. Cool streak coming up weather-wise in the next few days so now I get to second-guess myself for the next week.
