When we get A LOT of rain my veggies slow down. The rain dilutes the nutrients from the soil because they are taking up so much liquid. They always look almost anemic. When you get a dry day maybe give them a dose of fish emulsion fertilizer etc and I bet they will perk right up and grow like gangbusters!
Expecting another 3-4" of rain this weekend.... :barnie

Got the door that goes into the chicken run finished up today. Added the latch and covered the opening above it with chicken wire. No gardening work today...

I weeded the cucumbers and the green bean plants. Something has been eating the green bean leaves, so whatever it is is now going to get a taste of some bug killer - I have zero tolerance for the destroyers.
I have cucumbers growing on a couple I started inside, and that's really amazing being it's May.
Today is my youngest son's 17th birthday. He had surgery last week and an ER visit on Monday, so this is a strange birthday for him to say the least.

Potatoes are getting ready to flower. Boy, that seemed to happen fast! The garden is still in the honeymoon phase. Everything is still in its borders, the bugs aren't at their worst and disease hasn't kicked in yet. Check back with me in July! 🤣
RIGHT?! I noticed mine have flower buds on them too.
My tarragon is OUT OF CONTROL! I cut a bushel of it off and it's still 5 feet tall and 4 feet across. OMG, this is nuts! The trimmings sure smelled good when I hit them with the mower.

I decided to put off on the tomato planting until my normal, almost June 1st. It's going to be continued cool and on and off rain this next week. Tomatoes in my soil do not care for that. They can hang out in the greenhouse for a bit longer.

The hummingbirds finally showed up last night. It was cute tonight when the female went to the feeder, turner her little nose up at the nectar, and went for the massive columbine plant. Made my heart happy.

I'm tired. Watered more. Pulled purslane... Lots of it... Found that I have so so so many tomatillo volunteers. I told DH I didn't need to start any. I was right! 😁😜

Caught another gopher. That's 5 this week.

RZR and toy hauler are at the lake property for the summer. I finally shoveled all of the dirt off of the driveway from washing the RZR after all the winter trips. My driveway looks so much better. Half the trash can of full of dusty silty dirt. It's light and sparkly.

Blackberries are starting to go red!!! 😁
