What did you do in the garden today?

I wish I had bees! I've hardly seen any around here this spring. Even Bumblebees are scarce. In previous years, there were tons of Bumblebees. The few I've seen this year are much MUCH smaller than normal. The only thing that seems relatively abundant are tiny sweat bees. I've hardly seen any grasshoppers either. A few babies but not many.

This does not bode well....
I saw an article from Epoch times that reported by the bee pollinator people :confused:that send bees to farms, last year they had the greatest loss in bees ever. 🐝🐝🐝

What variety tomatoes? Some varieties do well in cooler climate zones & some thrive in heat. My favorite are Better Boy hybrid & Roma in our zone. Sun Gold cherry or other random red cherry varieties are mostly for the chickens.
They're from seeds I saved from a couple different Roma tomatoes and from a Black Krim plant that had yellow fruits.

I mowed the rest of the yard today. I might rake up some of the grass later, after it's dried out, and use it for garden mulch.

I chopped off one of my chive clumps today. Cleaned it up and chopped it, bagged it and put it in the freezer. I got right at one and a half pounds into a gallon freezer bag. There's probably another 5 pounds of chives in the garden if I decide to harvest it.

The three week old baby chicks are outside in the coop now. I moved them out there this morning.

Due to having so much to do today and cant keep an eye in my chicks, I am going to set them in the pin in the middle of the run, theyll be happy just being out in the sun. They are running loose in the coop right now, I kicked all the hens out but soon I'll open the door and let the layers get to work. I am about to put the two broody mean hens in the freezer, they had better work their hormones out, they have been like this to long and no, a cold bath didnt work this time.

100% rain all day today!
Can’t do gardening. My dh did get the gate fixed to garden in between showers yesterday!
I cut my soap and letting it dry! It smells so strong. I have a problem w my scents disappearing in my soaps so this time I made sure it was 100 degrees b4 I added oils. I used a thermometer and all 😂

I saw the pics before reading your post and thought you made a batch of homemade tofu!

I fill up a watering can with diluted weed tea fertilizer and poured it over my volunteer dill plants and my row of beets, then watered it into the soil. I gave everything else a shot of water while I was at it since it'll probably hit 80 degrees this afternoon.

I'll plant summer squash, winter squash and cucumbers in the bare bed in the background of this pic. Cukes and winter squash will have trellises to climb. I might try training the summer squash up poles.
