What did you do in the garden today?

Info please. How do you make flour from such a wet product?
I sliced the zucchinis, dried the slices in my dehydrator to crispy dryness, and pulverized them in the blender.
Well, I know everyone here was anxiously waiting with bated breath for a follow up picture of my ‘no birds getting my blueberries’
That is awesome! I assume you take it down after the berry season ends, and store it until the next year?

Bacillus thuringiensis, a bacteria that kills cabbage worms, among other things. It's selective so it doesn't harm things like bees.

I still have about a pint of BT mix in the sprayer. I'm going to use it on the brassicas again this evening, not because they need it but it's good only for 12 hours or so after mixing it with water.

Wow lots of posts. Weeded some more and ran the weed wacker. It did not want to run very well. Mixed up new fuel and problem solved. Small engines are really fussy about fuel.
I bought a new Ryobi gas trimmer a couple years ago and the carbeurator started leaking. Found a new one for cheap online, replaced it and problem solved. Yeah, small engines can be a pain at times.

Today I dug 6 buckets of compost out of the chicken run and hauled them down to the garden. I added 4 to what will be the zucchini row, and the other 2 went around the cherry tomatoes.

I need to water it all well. I'm wishing mother nature would do it for me, but it doesn't look like that will happen. Sigh.

No ma’am. This is staying put. I made it tall enough so that you could walk in and easily tend to the bushes……so, nope its staying put.

Well, I know everyone here was anxiously waiting with bated breath for a follow up picture of my ‘no birds getting my blueberries’ endeavor…..so…….TATA!!!
The winged takers have met their match this time.
You know my TATA should have been TADA! Right? If I had put an ‘S’ after TATA my post would have taken on a whole new flavor.

Made about 3 dozen chocolate cupcakes using one of the giant squash. 😋 Still have one more to use up... I'm thinking about cubing it, batter and deep fry. 🤔

BTW, the chocolate cupcakes are amazing... So moist and yummy. You'd never ever guess it has a vegetable in it. 🤭

Good news is that I'm starting to find less and less SVB eggs...

I need to go collect more blackberries for another batch of simple syrup but it's really hot out there. I'm going to wait until later tonight when the temperature comes back down. Storms forecasted all weekend again... So much for kayaking! 😣
You should stop, you’re making me hungry.

:thumbsup
Do you take the netting off for the winter, so it doesn't collect the snow?
I’m thinking not but this winter would be the first year for it. Always removed the previous netting, the cheap kind, every year which never worked out well. Trying to salvage it was like trying to fold a fitted sheet in a hurricane without thumbs. So, this netting is commercial grade and will hopefully sturdy enough to simply stay put. I velcroed closed the one end so we could just pull the end flap open to get in and out.

Will kids eat a fresh strawberry pie? Use a pre-made pie crust made out of graham crackers or a pre-made ground pecan crust, line the pre-made pie shell w/ your hulled berries & use either a strawberry jello or your own glaze over the berries. I make my own glaze using only 1/2 the sugar in the recipe & add a 1/4 cup honey for sweetness. No oven baking during hot summer months & kids love a dessert they don't have to be told is good for them 😁!! Put a little dollop of whipped cream sprayed on a slice! No baking! Put the kids to work to hull the berries for their dessert ~ they'll appreciate it more & then compliment their efforts no matter how crooked it turns out :lau
