What did you do in the garden today?

My 12 Manoa lettuce are ready to be picked, so I started thinking of ways to consume them and came up with this idea. Has anyone tried a folded 6 to 8 leaf thick mayo lettuce sandwich before? I ate lettuce sandwiches before but never thought of making it this thick. This is something new to me.

I bet a couple of pickle slices on there would be delicious ! 😋

my soapberry plant’s leaves were yellowing so I moved them in the sunlight. The new leaves look healthy.
Should I wait to trim off the yellow leaves? Don’t want to kill it.
The new leaves do look good- I would let them get a little bigger than trim. Maybe a shot of fish emulsion would help it. I would love to have one of those.

Welp, received my sweet potato slips from Southern Exposure Seed Exchange today. A word to the wise. When they say "slips" they mean SLIPS. These things don't have roots, they're basically cuttings. My fault I suppose, I just assumed that I was buying an actual plant. Southern Exposure is my go to for plant seeds that do well in the South, and also many unusual varieties. Don't think I'll be ordering any more slips from them though.

I have a phobia of mayonnaise. This sandwich is very scary. I would cook the lettuce with lemon juice, onions, Baharat/Sumac, salt, and tons of olive oil. Then you serve it with goat cheese, like Labane or yogurt.

Only if there's A big slab of my first grown tomato in there too. Lol

Is anyone else getting nailed by daytime mosquitos? We've gotten a record amount of rain here in the northeast, and I'm getting bit through clothes/repellent/90 degree heat/wind. It's unreal.

Today I'm finally pulling the plug on a dead butterfly bush and replacing with a Vermillionaire Firecracker. It's an annual in zone 5, but the hummingbirds can't get enough of it.
