can anyone confirm that trellising peas produces a better crop than just letting them run along the ground?

I can't think of a reason that you would like them to run on the ground. They grow great upright and stay dry and clean that way.can anyone confirm that trellising peas produces a better crop than just letting them run along the ground?
Better crop meaning more beans? Idk. But I do know you can see them better. My back won’t let me look for them on the ground unless you were just going to harvest whole vine and pick them off at once? The more you pick, the more you produce. I even put my bush limas in raised beds bc of back.can anyone confirm that trellising peas produces a better crop than just letting them run along the ground?

I usually get varieties that don’t absolutely need trellising and just let them run. Usually get a pretty good crop but just thinking of changing things up a bit for my fall planting.I can't think of a reason that you would like them to run on the ground. I’ve always let them just run, they get all gnarled up and require more hunting, which for me is akin to the treasure hunt of digging potatoes. I usually get a pretty good harvest and in a weird way the gnarled mess actually seems to assist in rabbit protection+1 Never grew them on the ground and keep us informed of the results if you try it.
The oregano plant I have in a moderately shaded area is thriving, but the one in direct sunlight is struggling.I wish my oregano plant was doing that good.
