Just got back from TSC with a dozen new 6' T-posts I bought for tomato supports. Can't have too many T-posts...

I watered the upper garden this morning since it's going to hit 85 degrees or so this afternoon. The tomatoes, peppers and beans in the lower garden were looking OK so I decided that a little dry heat stress would encourage the roots to burrow deeper into the soil.

grasshoppers ate 2 varieties of yellow tomatoes I recently transplanted

I have tons of grasshoppers in this area and they don't seem to touch any of my garden plants but holes keep appearing out of nowhere! I'll keep an eye out, I'm so sorry about your plants!!!

Wow! 85 degrees is nothing compared to what we get here in Massachusetts! Last week was 90-100 degrees every single day. Absolutely bonkers. Us new englanders are weatherproof I guess!

Too hot and humid today. I dragged the cattle panel to the garden. I cut my finger the other day and I take a blood thinner. I bled really bad and DW wanted me to go to the ER. I said it looks worse than it is. Short times outside is all I can take today. Tomorrow should be better.

I’m way behind on this thread. Heatwave over. We were treated to much cooler temperatures for a couple of days. I wasn’t able to get the corn patch prepped. Too hot for that. Just keeping the chickens cool was tough enough. My 7+ y.o. RIR hen finally succumbed to the heat. She was quite a hefty girl at near 10 pounds. Digging a hole deep enough to bury her was a struggle yesterday in the humidity. The temperatures are creeping back up so I’m hoping to get caught up on the weeding and grass mowing today. Tomorrow has to be a shopping and cleaning day. The temperature will be climbing to near 90F but drop a little to the lower 80’s for the test of the week. My red leaf lettuce is doing great in this heat. I’ll be picking some this morning. The pea vines are loading up and the wild black raspberries are ripening.

Fellow Massachusetter here!!! And GIRL SAME! We've got wild raspberries and peas ripening here too! The heat wave last week was absolute torture, my chickens almost died from heat and I was spending all day trying to cool them down. I'm so sorry about your hen, she definitely had a great life!

Just how much energy are you pumping into that fence? Do you have it hooked up directly to substation transformer or are you tied directly to the high tension transmission lines?

The tomato support t-posts are all in place. I'll use the Florida weave to support the determinate Roma plants and the indeterminate tomatoes will be tied directly to the posts, with height extensions added as needed.

I just finished feeding the onions and shallots with weed tea fertilizer. I'll probably have to wash my hands two or three more times before the stink comes off. Watered the peas and carrots.

The peas are growing fast right now. I picked yesterday and there were several ready to pick today that the kids ate. I'll pick more for the freezer Monday if any are left.

You always mention how bad this stuff smells, do you see improvement in your garden when using it? Personally, I’m a glutton for punishment and wanted to know if they’re are more of us out there.
