What did you do in the garden today?

Yeah I intended to lock up the chickens too.
Once these are caught they learn not to go in
Other than the once in a while hawk (bad enough) and the groundhogs we never see any predators during the day. We do take a bit of a risk by having a fenced but open chicken yard which is connected to the enclosed run the door of which we have been keeping open. Once the troops are up they can come right out into their yard rather than being restricted to the run. We feel pretty confident, perhaps a bit naively, that the chickens are ok. We supervise a bit of evening free ranging until they go in. Once in, the automatic door closes and I verify they’re locked up. All this to say, we don’t really sweat any ground predators……yet anyway.
