What did you do in the garden today?

I hate moths but this one is pretty. It's probably a killer of something though. :hmm

Figured out what to do with those huckleberries! Didn't work, flavor wise, as a pie filling by themselves but adding 6 Tbl. of grape juice concentrate to that filling and turning it into a fruit crumble it was wonderful. Now I gotta figure out something I can do with it without those seeds. Some kind of sauce maybe? Something savory since they take on other flavors so well? I'm open to ideas if anyone has suggestions!

Managed to throw some fertilizer down on my tomatillos before the downpour came last night. Also means my grapes finally got their potash watered in since I never bothered...

I have too many cucumbers from my single cucumber plant. I might start secretely dropping them off at neighbors houses and running away. Scarlet runner beans are jussssst starting to climb their strings.

I pulled 80% if my garlic. Usually garlic is my easiest grow but we had so much rain even my raised bed garlic was MAD. So, bulb size is lackluster but I have a fair amount of garlic. I'm looking to add some plants to the bed that I pulled since nature arbores a vacuum but I'm not sure what yet. Maybe some more turnips and actually putting carrots in the ground. Its too hot yet to move greens in but it won't be too long now... odd how fast the gardening season shifts. Seems like the cool season is too short to grow cool season veg and the hot season too short to succession plant.

I really want to try to get some row covers set up for fall season extension. Maybe this is the year...
