What did you do in the garden today?

Despite my lack of attention my garden is doing pretty well. Almost time to plant new zucchini squash. There's so many volunteer tomatillos.... I don't even understand. They are absolutely everywhere. And more keep sprouting!

Discovered that my butternut squash that isn't taking off like the Waltham just wasn't getting enough water. Fixed that.

Photos of the chaos attached. I finally took photos yesterday evening. Didn't get photos of the pumpkin plants though. Or grapes, or trees.

Some of my tomatoes are so tall I can't reach the top growth.

ATTN: Squash Bug haters.
My husband and I heard that spraying certain degreasing dish soap water kills Squash bugs.
AND.... it does! I put 1/4 cup of Dawn dish soap in 1/2 gallon of warm water in my sprayer. My husband sprayed the babies and they instantly died, sprayed the adults and after a few moments they were paralyzed and died!
We were so excited .
Try it!!!!

Make sure of the dilution as too much Dawn soap "could" harm the plant.

We are going to try the coffee grounds and diluted coffee spray on a couple of plants to make sure it does no damage to the plants.

Went out to harvest another batch of blueberries today and got just shy of 7 lbs. Noticed another crop of strawberries coming on, will probably pick a few this evening. And, made a batch of cucumber/lime drink out of our latest cucumber harvest. Most of the previously harvests cukes are now officially kosher dill pickles to the tune of four large pickle jars……..so far. More pickles are on the way BECAUSE you can NEVER have enough pickles.Except sweet pickles,they should be outlawed…..what a travesty.

My wife recently bought mini sweet peppers. To my surprise they are seedless. So, they are parthenocarpic and probably pollen sterile in order to grow fields of them. Never knew.

I picked my largest head of cabbage which was nearly the size of a soccer ball but doesn't weigh much, maybe close to 3 pounds. Not a compact head for sure. Nice, cloudy and cool here today, might hit 70 degrees.

I had to tie up part of my second biggest tomato plant because the fruit was so heavy that it was being weighed down. It swear I am getting at least 10 pounds of cherry tomatoes off of this plant
