What did you do in the garden today?

I have a similar zapper to kill gnats around my house plants. Life saver! Haven't tried it for mosquito control yet. Looks like a good idea.
The only thing with this zapper is it needs to be under a roof. I have one hanging outside in my back yard under a 10ft x 10ft heavy-duty easy corner tarp tent that covers my tilapia tank and filter. I also have one hanging in my garage. I can walk around outside without a shirt. I blow on it to clean it, and hardly ever use the small brush that comes with it. It took a few weeks to clear the mosquitoes. I also use mosquito dunks in buckets of water I keep under my mango tree to prevent them from multiplying.

Does this look like fasciation to anyone? I am trying to figure out why it looks so weird View attachment 4169929
Sometimes as many as 3 or 4 flowers will evolve into 1 flower. I breed tomatoes as a hobby and I see this in one of my varieties. If the flower stays viable and gets pollinated generally you get a VERY large fruit! Fun to watch! 😊

My tomatoes are crazy and misbehave. They still will not stay within the panels.
Those look... scary....! I'd be afraid to pick tomatoes. Like the plant would grab onto me and pull me in. Did you ever wonder why they call those stems that we prune off suckers?
We had to put up the little white fencing on the bottom to keep the cats and ducks out of them while they grow.
Otherwise, they'd get lost in there!

I have had this happen too. It made some MONSTER tomatoes!

That's too bad. My father had some bad reactions to poison ivy many years ago and had to go to the doctor for shots. That's no fun. If you had bad reactions in the past, it's smart to avoid repeated exposure.

Unfortunately, there is no medication that you can take to prevent poison ivy reactions. That would be nice. But I have not heard of any preventive medicine - other than limiting your exposure which is what you are doing.

I’ve heard jewelweed helps for poison ivy, but I don’t know if it would help if you’re allergic. 🤷‍♀️

The top ones are scarlet beauty, the middle are Vermont Appaloosa, and the bottom ones are soldier beans!

There was me thinking the top ones were Iroquois Cornbread beans. 😅

I would love to get some cattle panels. How to get them home from TSC... that's the hard part. I've seen people bend them into an arch and put them in truck beds and trailers. Hubby isn't so sure about that.

I rented a truck from Home Depot to transport mine; warn your hubby if you use a box truck (there weren’t any rentable pickups in the timeframe I’d wanted) that the panels can get caught in the door.

Side note, anyone know of a good way to coat/cover the ends? I had to cut mine in half to get them to fit where I wanted, and the poking ends make me nervous.

Maybe you shouldn’t be touching it. Obviously something mutant like is happening.

Now I’m imagining a bunch of vegetables in superhero costumes. *X-Men theme plays*

So ...I was one panel short the year I put up the cattle panels. So I grabbed a remesh from the barn. It lasted ONE season. It got rusty to the point of being a tetanus hazard, and got SHARP, NOT cool for something you have to reach into to prune and harvest things. And wasn't has hearty as the panels. It wanted to wobble and wibble. I replaced it the following spring.
JUST a thought.

I had looked at remesh and I’m now very glad I stuck with the cattle panels. 😦

When I take seeds for my breeding program I always take seeds from individual plants that show this trait. So I get more of these monster blooms than normal!

The volunteer vine finally revealed itself; Python bean
