What did you do in the garden today?

I have not been around much this year but this is my Garden in July.

32 ea Amish paste and Brandywine tomatoes (latter are very flavorfull)
32 ea Green and Pablano peppers
16 Jalapeno
75' fence of sweet potatoes
Romaine lettuce bolting like crazy and can't eat and give it away fast enough
1 Panel of Kentucky wonder beans and 3 supposed to be blue lake but some of the "pole bean" seeds I bought were bush.
Rows of butternut and spaghetti squash, Crenshaw, cantaloupe and a few watermelons that did not grow well.
Zuchinni is finally in the ground.

Also harvested 50# of rye off the deer food plot.

I caught a summer cold and have been doing the bare minimum (I thought) for the last week. Went out to tend the gardens and found 4 dead tomato plants, the few remaining with nothing but yellow and brown leaves, some tomatoes but definitely not healthy. Cut off the dead and dying leaves. Fertilized and drenched the soil around them with aspirin water. Only thing left to do for them is pray. Cucumbers are doing well though, fertilized them too. Now back to bed.
I'll say prayers for your health.

Today was really hot. It got up to 93F. I did get the garden spot cleaned and prepped so I planted the chard. It was old seed but I’m hoping for the best. I also watered everything in the big garden, the potatoes, carrots, peas, the winter squash seeds I just planted and the new curly kale seedlings. Tomorrow the guy is coming to clean my pellet stove. It’s great to have the professional clean it however my sweet min pinscher will bark the whole time he’s here. Also donating 4 dozen eggs to the local food pantry tomorrow. Since the old hens started popping out eggs they’ve added at least an extra dozen eggs per week to my stash. My pole beans are bursting with blossoms as are the black turtle beans. The tomatoes in the big garden are blooming too. I checked the potatoes and I felt a purple fingerling potato and pulled enough dirt and straw to see a white potato. That one was from the sprouting potatoes from the top of my refrigerator. Tomorrow I’ll check on the gardens on the hill and water them again.

If you zoom in you can see the potato.

I sautee garlic and onions in olive oil, add Italian seasoning, one pint of tomato sauce I canned last year let simmer a bit then add some chicken broth about half a pint to start. When flavor is where you want add heavy whipping cream and basil. Then Parm.
That's a different path, but generally gets to the same result as the recipe I used last night. Only, I roasted tomatoes, red peppers, onions, and garlic in the oven with olive oil and dried herbs (basil, Italian seasoning, and thyme) for 30 minutes... Then blended it smooth and added to chicken broth. Next I added the wine, cream, cheese, and more seasoning. Cooked on low a while longer...

It was OK once I doctored it up from the original recipe. I ended up canning 4 pints of leftovers.

Do keep us updated with those photos and results please. So sorry your favorite hen and you are going through this
Thanks... My poor girl has been unable to poop for 2 days now. I checked her vent and there's no blockage that I can see. The vet did warn me that she likely has tumors in her intestinal tract too...

I'm still giving her the ivermectin but I realize her time is limited to hours now since she is unable to eliminate waste. 😭 She doesn't appear to be suffering badly though. She still chatters to me when I go into the sunroom and does pick at her food occasionally.

It's 100 degrees now and it's kicked the pollinators into high gear. I can hear a constant buzz coming from all the bees and wasps visiting the blossoms.

The flat leaf parsley blossoms are the favorite of the tiny parasitic wasps. Bumblebees (?), mason bees (?) like the chives, oregano and lemon balm. I see a few metallic green flies flitting around. Something is going for the dill too.

I went out to pick some fresh greens for dinner. Enough arugula and lettuce for 2 large salads, some kale for tomorrow and Swiss chard to cook up if it ever cools down enough to want to turn the stove on. We’ve been grilling and eating salads all week!

Oh no, not private message! I'm sure there are so many of us that would like to know about this! Please share with all of us!
If no one minds…
So what do you want to know? My wife and doctor do not know I take it.
Do “you” take the horse paste? If so, how would you dose, and how often? I have been reading about the benefits and may venture into the land of maybe giving some to my 110 pound “horse”
