What did you do in the garden today?

I finished the old fashioned sweet pickles. I had 1 that didn’t seal so put in fridge.
Everything else is growing nicely. We are getting showers only ever other day now.
I hand pollinated these gerbera daisies I’ve had inside. I would love these in every room!
I found some more Rose of Sharon on our property. I will cut some and try to plant near house. I had experimented with the last ones by weaving the growth to keep them from sending up shoots every where. It was 2 years old when it was killed w a water main break. It seemed to be working.

Healing slowly but have been getting back to garden chores. I got my old black and decker string trimmer hooked up and about halfway through cleaning the heavy weeds in the big garden the darn thing died. Wah! The day before the last metal blade on my cordless trimmer broke. Wah! I ordered a cordless string trimmer and more metal blades for my working whacker. That should all be delivered today. Yesterday I pulled my potatoes. This was a somewhat productive year however, half of the potatoes had been sampled by, most likely, my resident groundhog. Oh well. This morning I took my electric cultivator to the summer squash bed and the Brussel sprout bed. I should be able to plant them tomorrow. I also added more string to the pole beans and black beans. I need to water the big garden before the temperature rises too much. There's a chance of rain forecasted for this evening but I’m not holding my breath for that. The berries growing on the hill are finally ripening. I may be able to pick enough to give DD a lesson on jam / jelly making and canning. Finally getting to the point that going up stairs is not as painful. I should be able to use the garden tractor sometime this week. Yay!

Picked the first cucumbers. Everything looks good right now. I need to burn it into my brain because extremely hot weather is coming for the foreseeable future with no rain whatsoever. @WthrLady - you should get your hay done finally!
Nope. Chance of rain Monday night, which is not a deal breaker right after cutting Monday afternoon, BUT there is a chance again wednesday night Thursday and even greater thursday into Friday. with baling being a wet window on Thursday. So nope. Not this week.
My neighbor will probably try it and get away with it. But we'll have LOW winds and extreme humidity, also not a great combo.

As long as we still get rains here and there, the field is strong and green.

It's when the rains STOP for too long and we start to have dieback, that we have a real problem with loosing yield with a later cutting. We've gone into August before.
