What did you do in the garden today?

Not a dang thing done in the garden today. Cleaned house... picked up, vacuumed, dusted, wiped, washed. Moved a lot of stuff around in the shop to get it more organized. Moved stuff from the kitchen pantry to a new pantry space in the shop. Cooked some soupy spicy chili pork stuff and a pot of rice and put them together in a bowl. Tasty! Mowed the yard.

the birds found my sunflowers, dozens of beautiful yellow finches going crazy on them. They were so happy I was tempted to let them have them, but nope, my chickens come first. I did leave a few but cut the rest and brought them in. Pickling cucumbers got a little too big when I was sick, so happy chickens again. The Japanese eating cucumber is thriving in this heat and humidity. Has a nice mild taste for salads, think I'll grow this one again. About time to get beds together for fall planting, gotta figure out what I want this year. Carrots definitely, they winter over well and kale but what else. Lots of room out there.

Pumpkins!

Feeling depressed. 😞
Last Sunday night I hurt my thumb really bad. I toughed it out and it seemed to be healing but then last night while doing chores I hurt it again and it was really bad. My husband was at a funeral visitation, and I texted him that I might need to go to the ER. I toughed it out but this morning I told him I was ready to go.
But we got 4 inches of rain and the basement was flooded, so we cleared a drain and went to the ER. Yeah, my thumb is fractured.
I have chickens to butcher and things to can. My middle son is getting married on the 2nd and we are helping them move to Wyoming. I don't have time for this right now. :hit
I am so sorry! the stress has to be overwhelming and I really hope things turn around for you!

Dug potatoes today. My little potato bed did a nice job, but I learned I could've put alot more in there than I did . Had lots of wasted space. Next year I hope to remember that! Going to can some of the small ones with onions and green beans..quick easy side dish for this winter.
