What did you do in the garden today?

Yesterday: Partner grabbed some cherry tomatoes and onions from the garden and made salsa

This morning: I looked at the weeds and walked away

Tonight: made mashed potatoes with freshly dug potatoes and garlic
ETA: and long beans! Only things for dinner not from the garden are the pork, butter, and cream

How are the injured today?
I hadn't been on since Sunday and it seems like everyone is hurt.
@jerryse how is your little stroke?
I am not any better. I keep making it worse by trying to exist and do mom stuff. I'm putting ice on it this evening. I should have done that to begin with... I thought I could just wait it out. Nope. Time for some naproxen, ice, and the massage gun thingy.

Thank you.

Just as a cover crop. The first frost will kill it. If it blooms, so much the better! The honeybees can visit the flowers.
Is planting buckwheat for a cover crop something you've done for some years, and does it help the garden a lot? I've never planted a cover crop but wanted to. I just have a hard time spending money for seeds for something I'm not going to eat. LOL

I got a prescription for prednisone today to help with my shoulder injury, happened July 3rd. My feet got tangled up and I fell like a tree, landing full force on my right shoulder. On asphalt pavement. Hurt like H E double toothpicks, and it pretty much paralyzed my shoulder joint for several days. Could barely move my upper arm away from my body.

It's somewhat better now and the PA is pretty sure I didn't injure the rotator cuff. Probably just severely bruised tissue around the shoulder joint.

Is there something in the air? Everyone on here keeps getting hurt...

Seeing more and more plants starting to produce. So far I've harvested zucchini, purple bush beans, and cucumbers. Will be starting to set aside the cucumbers for making sun pickles with the dill hopefully before it goes to seed. I've got to say, this is the best pickle patch I've grown in a long while, most the time the separate mounds of 2-4 plants stay small and never intermingle.

2 of my long awaited new plants are finally about to produce.
Suyu Long cucumber is already impressive after only being pollinated for a day or 2.

A scalloped yellow summer squash I don't remember the name of is doing weird things though. Here's a baby female flower a couple days away from blooming. Clearly a scalloped squash in the making.

Then there's this weird male bloom that flowered and instead of withering away it has grown into some sort of mutant! Don't the white things in the center look like little seeds and doesn't the end look like the bit where pollen typically is? I've noticed a lot of the male blooms seem more bulbous at the base than the usual summer squash but thought nothing of it seeing as it's a new variety for me. There was another bloom on another plant like this that withered up at about nickel size but this one keeps going. I plan to keep an eye on this and grab a few male blooms to dissect and see if there are some weird hermaphrodite blooms.
