What did you do in the garden today?

AGAIN went out to pick "just these three nicely ripe tomatoes" while the ducks' water barrels are filling and came back with a bucket of them.

Also suddenly lots of plums this year. If life gives you plums halve them, make a bed of curd cheese, put walnuts on top, drizzle with elderflower syrup and some cinnamon, put in the oven and well we'll see what happens.

Spent most of the day at our town parade with family. Mowed and weed whacked when I got home. I dug up three buckets of soil where the chickens kick it through the fence to the garden side. Put it back in their run and boy they were happy gals! Picking tomatoes, cucumbers, beans and all the things now. Our heat index for the next couple of days is supposed to be 118. I'm so grateful we got rain this last week. My tomatoes and peppers dropped a lot of their blossoms in our last heat wave. Hoping they hang onto them this time.
Ya, it's going to be gross. Inside (mostly) day for me while grass bakes in the sun.
I do need to move some equipment. We decided to NOT stack the hay in the hay shed Tuesday night in a heat index of 112, and you don't want to know what the inside of the hay shed feels like. We're going to make the barn a drive through hay drop, stack it along one wall for just a couple of days to keep it out of the rain, and then we'll move it to the curing shed this weekend when the temps drop to the upper 70s for a couple days.

I glanced at the garden while passing it, moving hay equipment. Yep, it's still there.
I'll go feed the mosquitoes tonight and grab the tomatoes.
The pullets are moving to the large run for a sleep over with the big girls tonight. It's too hot for them, and humid, for them to cram into their grow-out house.
“Feed the mosquitoes” lol. Aren’t they TERRIBLE this year?!
