What did you do in the garden today?

I'm growing a pickling cuke variety called SMR-58. It's supposed to grow well here in the Northwest and so far it's growing nicely with lots of blooms and baby cukes showing. I'll be picking my first cucumber soon, the largest one is about 3 inches long. Looking forward to trying my hand at making garlic dill pickles.

Thanks for mentioning that. I looked but didn't see any tomatoes that I wanted to try, specifically some kind of paste tomato for sauce and salsa.
I'll have to look and see if they do well in the Midwest also. Always looking for recommendations on seeds! Thanks!

Sure.
3-4 cups of peeled, seeded, and chopped cucumbers
2/3 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of lime juice
6 cups of water, divided
mint, optional

Place the cucumbers, sugar, lime juice, 3 cups of water, and mint if using in a blender and blend until smooth. Strain the pulp through a fine sieve extracting as much of the liquid as possible into a pitcher than add the remaining 3 cups of water.

Done.
We suck this down by the gallons as long as the cucumbers keep loading us up. Once they’re done we switch over to a similar drink using watermelon.
I am definitely making this when my cucs get going. Thanks! Sound delicious

I'm mostly getting Tomato Hornworms.

I'm about ready to nuc them. What has worked for you all?

Like if they'd just eat one tomato they could live but they have to ruin every single one on each plant then top it before I'm ready. These jerks must die! I have never had them so bad, my old place had the wasps that killed them. I miss those wasps!

I hate using the "hard" stuff but they are killing off my whole crop. I pick at least 7 a day, none are small. Jerks!

I haven't even been out to look at the garden. It's been too hot and the yuck is causing me too many breathing problems and headaches. I'm going out to water it in the morning and I need to take in the recycling stuff. I'm hoping to put the older chicks and cockerel in with the big girls. I'm hoping that they get along well because I need some more stuff to get them a bigger, better area. For now it is what it is.

Go out at night with a black light, the horn worms glow and its easy to remove all of them.

I forgot to add the fact that I have gotten tomatoes, blackberries, a few strawberries and green beans and a couple of zucchini. I'm waiting to close down the garden so that I can let the chickens out to eat. I have around 5 -6 pumpkins and a spaghetti squash. Lots of corn too so hopefully I will put some in the freezer.
