What did you do in the garden today?

Looks like very close to 100% germination rate on my row of fall pickling cucumbers. I'll eventually pluck out the weakest plants and leave the strongest, spaced at around 4 to 5 inches apart.

The other cuke vines are doing great and just about to fall over the top of the trellis rail.

Tomatoes grown from seeds from a dwarf size Roma plant that grew last year. They all seem to have stopped growing in height at around 2 feet tall.

Blue Lake climbing beans are at the top of the trellises.

Provider bush and Rattlesnake pole beans are looking a little heat stressed today. I'll water them later.

The Roma plants are looking much better since the lime treatment and chicken compost top dressing.

I picked 18 ears of corn (up) at Walmart today. Regular 50 cent ears marked down to 10 cents an ear. Not as satisfying (or exasperating) as growing my own corn, but much easier. LOL. I'll have corn in the freezer this winter.

Oh wow. I’ve seen them for less than $100 many places to up to around $150-$200 or $300 for the better ones. Never seen anywhere near thousands LOL must be a commercial one maybe or something. The Clubhouse recently bought one and idk exactly how much we paid but I think it was less than $200 and it’s a good one too.
Not a dehydrator a freeze dryer - totally different process.
And you can't even compare the two for nutrition, food quality, and preservation time in storage.

This morning I picked another pound of green beans, 4 more shallots and what I believe are the last of the peas. Then I gave everything a good drink of water then put straw around the summer squash. The air is still disgusting. I picked up some seeds at the hardware store nearby. Since my Brussel sprouts never did sprout I picked up a pack of broccoli seeds. They mature within 70 days so hopefully these will work for that empty garden spot. After my errands I had to turn the ac on in the house to help clean the air and let me breathe. I wanted to work on the mowing but that’s not happening until we get better air quality around here.
Today’s haul, minus the peas:
